The MPFSC-120 volumetric filler dispenses clean, accurate portions of
many difficult to fill products
MPFSC-120 volumetric
filler from HBM
A leading North American food service company
which produces close to 500 different
fresh food products ranging from salads, soups
and pastas to meatloaves has recently invested
US$5million in a high pressure processing
(HPP) line, which included an MPFSC-120
volumetric filler which dispenses accurate portions
of many difficult to fill products such as
pastas and rices. The company will use the
unit to fill penne and spaghetti pasta products
into 1-4.5kg containers at speeds of up to 40
cpm.
The MPFSC-120 is a mobile unit which can be
positioned over container conveying systems,
as well as a wide range of horizontal and vertical
bagging systems. It can be quickly cleaned
for a product changeover or moved to a different
production line in minutes, ready to fill
a different product into a different container
with minimum parts.
Features of the unit include:
• adjustable volumetric pocket system for
precision dosing
• no container-no fill function activated by
proximity sensor
• vacuum system which assists product
flow, especially for traditionally difficult
to handle products, e.g. cooked spaghetti,
IQF rice and wet salads
• food grade stainless steel construction, in
compliance with international standards

Process Multimeter Doubles as a
Calibrator
The new Yokogawa CA450 process multimeter is an on-site
measuring instrument that not only offers the functionality
of a digital multimeter for basic measurements such as voltage,
current, and resistance, but can also act as a calibrator
for electrical and process measurements.
The CA450 is a true RMS digital multimeter with a basic
measurement and generator accuracy of 0.05% and dedicated
sensor modes for direct inputs from sensors such as
AC/DC clamp probes. In addition, it incorporates a number
of process-related features including loop check and 4-20
mA output generation and measurement functions.
The CA450 can also be used to carry out operating checks
and adjustments on valve positioners, including zero and
span adjustment, response testing using the auto-step
function, and tests for hunting, sticking/slipping and valve
open/close errors. Controller programs can also be verified
using the CA450’s 4-20 mA step generation function, which
switches between 4 and 20 mA in 4mA output steps.
