The Vision<br />

The Vision is supported by 6 key goals:<br />
1. Develop complete, compact, healthy neighbourhoods.<br />
2. Provide residents a diversity <strong>of</strong> transportation choices.<br />
3. Improve the efficiency <strong>of</strong> buildings <strong>and</strong> infrastructure.<br />
4. Develop flexible renewable energy systems to replace the use <strong>of</strong> fossil fuels.<br />
5. Create new employment <strong>and</strong> business opportunities in a vibrant green economy.<br />
6. Achieve emissions reductions that support BC’s Province-wide targets.<br />
Plan Development<br />
The development <strong>of</strong> <strong>Langford</strong>’s <strong>Community</strong> <strong>Energy</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Emissions</strong> Reduction Strategy has been supported by<br />
two key funders: The BC Ministry <strong>of</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>and</strong> Rural Development <strong>and</strong> BC Hydro. In addition to<br />
funding assistance, these organizations have devoted significant expertise <strong>and</strong> guidance to ensure that this<br />
project serves as a valuable model for future work in other communities.<br />

2007, the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Langford</strong><br />
signed the<br />
Climate Action<br />
Charter<br />
June 16 th , 2008, <strong>Langford</strong>’s<br />

Plan (OCP) was adopted by<br />
