Herczeg tied for fourth in<br />

the floor exercise at the South<br />

Sectional as Algonquin finished<br />

second in the team<br />

competition. A Mid-Wach<br />

League <strong>All</strong>-Star, Herczeg won<br />

the floor exercise at the State<br />

Coaches Individual Championships.<br />

She played junior varsity<br />

soccer for Algonquin last<br />

fall. She is the daughter of<br />

Susanne Healey and Attila<br />

Herczeg of Southboro.<br />

Amanda Hubley<br />

Algonquin Regional<br />

Junior, <strong>All</strong>-Around<br />

A<br />

three-time T&G<br />

Super Team<br />

selection, Hubley<br />

won the balance<br />

beam and finished<br />

second in the<br />

all-around at the<br />

South Sectional to<br />

lead the Tomahawks<br />

to second<br />

place in the team standings. At the<br />

state meet, Hubley was fifth in the<br />

all-around while placing 14th in the<br />

uneven bars, 11th in the beam, tying<br />

for 10th in the floor exercise, and<br />

tying for fourth in the vault. Algonquin<br />

finished fourth. Hubley set the<br />

Algonquin record in the all-around<br />

last season. This year, Hubley<br />

helped the Tomahawks to their third<br />

straight Mid-Wach title and was<br />

named her team’s MVP the last two<br />

years. She is also a cheerleader at<br />

Algonquin and runs track in the<br />

spring. She’s the daughter of Kathy<br />

and Paul Hubley of Southboro.<br />

Sabrina Knight<br />

Shrewsbury High<br />

Sophomore, Vault<br />

Knight was<br />

third in the<br />

vault at the<br />

State<br />

Coaches<br />

Individual<br />

Championships<br />

and<br />

went on to<br />

place 11th at<br />

the South Sectionals. She was<br />

16th in the all-around at the<br />

sectionals. Shrewsbury finished<br />

sixth in the team standings,<br />

just missing out on the state<br />

meet. Other highlights from her<br />

season included wins in the<br />

vault in dual meets with Algonquin<br />

and Marlboro. In 2007,<br />

Knight was the USAG Level 6<br />

State Champion in the vault<br />

and all-around, an achievement<br />

she lists as her most memorable<br />

sports moment. She is the<br />

daughter of Sofia and Chris<br />

Knight of Shrewsbury.<br />

Jess Mushinsky<br />

Shrewsbury High, Junior<br />

Beam/Floor Exercise<br />

M ushinsky<br />

turned in a<br />

pair of top-10<br />

performances at<br />

the South Sectionals,<br />

tying for<br />

second place in<br />

the balance beam<br />

and tying for<br />

eighth in the floor<br />

exercise. She was 22nd in the<br />

all-around. Her beam routine was<br />

most memorable — it was her first<br />

time on the apparatus since coming<br />

back from an injury, and she<br />

scored a 9.55. Mushinsky was<br />

named a Mid-Wach <strong>All</strong>-Star and her<br />

team MVP. This is the second T&G<br />

Super Team selection for Mushinsky,<br />

who earned the honor as a<br />

freshman. She has been elected<br />

team captain for next season.<br />

Mushinsky would someday like to<br />

own her own gymnastics center.<br />

She’s the daughter of Elizabeth<br />

Mushinsky of Shrewsbury.<br />

Alissa Wood<br />

Algonquin Regional<br />

Freshman, Uneven Bars<br />

Wood was fifth<br />

in the bars in<br />

the State Coaches<br />

Individual Championships<br />

and<br />

went on to finish<br />

14th at the South<br />

Sectionals and<br />

12th in the state<br />

meet. Wood and<br />

teammate Chloe Herczeg led a<br />

strong group of Tomahawk freshmen<br />

this season, and they helped<br />

Algonquin to a second-place performance<br />

at the sectionals and<br />

fourth place at states. Competing in<br />

the state championships at the DCU<br />

Center was her most memorable<br />

sports moment. The 4-foot-11,<br />

95-pounder also finished 22nd in<br />

the all-around, 24th in the floor<br />

exercise, and tied for 17th in the<br />

beam. Wood enjoys dancing and<br />

playing lacrosse. She is the daughter<br />

of Kathy and Ron Wood of<br />

Northboro.<br />
