Michael Jenkins
Auburn High
Junior, Goalie
Only a junior but already a two-time pick to the Telegram & Gazette
Super Team, Jenkins established himself as one of the top goalies in
Central Mass., helping the Rockets to an 11-6-3 record. Jenkins was
named to the Quinn Conference and Central Mass. all-star teams for the
second straight year, finishing with a 2.90 goals-against average after
allowing 58 goals in 20 games. Jenkins was in net for every one of the
Rockets’ games this season after appearing in 18 as a sophomore. The
5-foot-8, 160-pounder was a member of a Little League state championship
team in 2005, and he’s hoping to add a hockey state title next year as
a senior. He is the son of Angie and Greg Jenkins of Auburn.
Tom Krysil
St. John’s High
Senior, Forward
The 5-foot-10 Krysil helped the Pioneers reach the Division 1 Tournament
by scoring 13 goals and adding 21 assists as St. John’s finished
8-9-4 before falling to eventual finalist St. Mary’s in the first round. The
Pioneers needed to complete a dramatic scramble to qualify for the postseason,
which they did with a win over St. John’s Prep. Krysil received the
MIAA Sportsmanship Award. He also won the Player of the Game Award in
last year’s game against St. Peter-Marian at the DCU Center. Krysil is vice
president of his Model UN group and has been accepted to the U.S.
Naval Academy and Georgetown. He is also considering Duke, Harvard
and Williams. He is the son of Cara Krysil of Leominster.
J.R. LaPointe
Gardner High
Sophomore, Center
One of the top snipers in Central Mass., LaPointe
scored 12 goals with 20 assists for the Wildcats this
year after bursting onto the scene as a freshman with
18 goals and 22 assists. LaPointe was a captain for
coach Jim Vaccarelo and was named to the Central
Mass. All-Star team the past two seasons. LaPointe will
suit up next winter for Cushing Academy with an eye on
earning a Division 1 college hockey scholarship.
LaPointe recalls an eight-point game against Westboro
and scoring a goal in the all-star game as his most
memorable sports moments. His father Jack (1976) and uncle Jim (1974)
were also Telegram & Gazette All-Stars. He is the son of Lisa and Jack
LaPointe of Gardner.
Justin Logan
Algonquin Regional
Senior, Defense
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Logan played a key role in
the Tomahawks’ advance to the Central Mass. Division
3 semifinal, which he considers his most memorable
sports moment. A captain for coach Scott Ellison,
Logan was a three-time Roy Conference All-Star for
Algonquin, and led the team in scoring his freshman
and sophomore seasons. His sister, Theresa, was a
standout basketball player at Algonquin. Logan scored
twice in the Tomahawks’ postseason run and had a
goal and two assists earlier in the season as Algonquin
upended then top-ranked Wachusett. An honor roll student at Algonquin,
Logan will attend Bridgewater State next fall with the plan of earning a
business degree. He is the son of Robin and Justin Logan of Southboro.
