HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION<br />
ENROLLMENT and Textbook Rental Fees<br />
Parents should complete an enrollment packet for<br />
each child who will <strong>at</strong>tend a district school. Parents<br />
must complete the enrollment process for each child<br />
by July 22, 2010 (Walk-In Enrollment). If you are<br />
new to the district and were not able to enroll by<br />
July 22, please contact the school offi ce.<br />
Each student is assessed a textbook rental and enrollment<br />
fee, which includes a student planner. All fees<br />
should be paid <strong>at</strong> the time of enrollment.<br />
PHYSICAL EXAMS FOR ATHLETES<br />
All middle school and high school students involved<br />
in 2010/11 <strong>at</strong>hletics must have a physical completed<br />
after May 1, 2010. Th e physical form must be the<br />
approved KSHSAA Pre-Particip<strong>at</strong>ion Physical<br />
Evalu<strong>at</strong>ion Form and is available on the school<br />
website. Th e physical must be completed by a<br />
licensed physician (MD, DO, DC or RPA).<br />
A completed physical and insurance waiver must<br />
be on fi le with the school before the <strong>at</strong>hlete can<br />
begin sports practice.<br />
STUDENT ORIENTATION SCHEDULE<br />
GEHS students may pick up their class schedule and<br />
locker combin<strong>at</strong>ion from the school offi ce anytime<br />
after August 2, 2010. Th is inform<strong>at</strong>ion will only be<br />
distributed to those students who have completed the<br />
enrollment process and paid fees.<br />
Th e GEHS open house will be held on Monday, August<br />
23, <strong>at</strong> 7:00 p.m. Th e form<strong>at</strong> includes a brief session<br />
in the Auditorium followed by classroom visit<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />
STUDENT NEWSPAPER & GEHS YEARBOOK<br />
Th e GEHS Newspaper staff produces Th e Blazer Bulletin<br />
monthly during the regular school year. Parents<br />
and p<strong>at</strong>rons may obtain a subscription to Th e Blazer<br />
Bulletin <strong>at</strong> a cost of $10 per school year. Advertising<br />
opportunities are also available in each issue.<br />
Th e GEHS annual yearbook can be purchased <strong>at</strong> a<br />
cost of $50. Th e deadline to purchase a yearbook is<br />
April 1, 2011.<br />
STUDENT PROGRESS & GRADES<br />
At GEHS, reports of student development and<br />
progress are sent home every 4.5 weeks. Semester<br />
grades are reported in December and May. Only<br />
the semester grades will be refl ected on the GEHS<br />
transcript. Semester grades are utilized to calcul<strong>at</strong>e<br />
G.P.A. and determine class rank.<br />
