DISTRICT INFORMATION<br />
BUS SERVICE (First Student)<br />
Transport<strong>at</strong>ion enrollment forms must be submitted<br />
by July 26, 2010 in order for your student to<br />
ride during the fi rst week of school. You may submit<br />
your completed form on Enrollment Day (take your<br />
form to the transport<strong>at</strong>ion table), or mail your form<br />
to First Student, 19450 S. <strong>Gardner</strong> Road, <strong>Gardner</strong>,<br />
Kansas 66030, or utilize<br />
the drop box on the west side of the <strong>District</strong><br />
Maintenance Service Center (Nike campus north<br />
entrance drive). IMPORTANT: A student may<br />
begin riding the bus on August 19 if the<br />
transport<strong>at</strong>ion form is received between July<br />
27-August 13. Forms submitted after August 13<br />
will require two business days for processing.<br />

Payment of Bus Fees<br />
• Fares may be pror<strong>at</strong>ed if a student moves into the<br />
district after school has started.<br />
• Th ere are no refunds unless a student moves<br />
out of the district during the course of the regular<br />
school year.<br />
• Fees may be paid by money order, check or credit<br />
card (VISA or MasterCard). First Student does not<br />
accept cash payment. Make checks payable to First<br />
Student. Th ere is a $20 returned check fee.<br />

CHILDCARE PAY PROGRAM<br />
On-site childcare is available <strong>at</strong> the elementary level<br />
through the Johnson County Parks and Recre<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
<strong>District</strong>. A minimum number of children must be<br />
enrolled <strong>at</strong> a school for a program to be off ered.<br />
Care options include: before and after school care<br />
for elementary aged children, extended day kindergarten<br />
enrichment and full-day preschool for 3-5<br />

EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOL-BASED<br />
PROGRAMS<br />
Early Childhood <strong>Educ<strong>at</strong>ion</strong><br />
Preschool services are provided to children with and<br />
without special needs. Monthly Child Find screenings<br />
are available. For more inform<strong>at</strong>ion, call the<br />
Special Services Offi ce <strong>at</strong> 856-2080.<br />
Gear Up Preschool<br />
A Gear Up Preschool is available to district 4 year-<br />
old children who may be <strong>at</strong>-risk for developmental<br />
delays. For more inform<strong>at</strong>ion, contact the Special<br />
Services Offi ce <strong>at</strong> 856-2080.<br />
Step Ahead Preschool<br />
<strong>District</strong> 3-5 year old children with emotional or<br />
behavioral needs may qualify for this program. For<br />
more inform<strong>at</strong>ion concerning Step Ahead, please<br />
contact Helen Imel <strong>at</strong> 782-2100.<br />
Headstart<br />
Th e school district particip<strong>at</strong>es in the federally<br />
funded Head Start Program. Children whose families<br />
meet the income guidelines are eligible to <strong>at</strong>tend<br />
the Head Start preschool. Children must be 3 years<br />
of age by August 31 of the current school year. More<br />
inform<strong>at</strong>ion can be obtained by contacting the Head<br />
