What extra benefits do I get with <strong>Parkland</strong> HEALTHfirst<br />
When you join <strong>Parkland</strong> HEALTHfirst, you get extra benefits that Medicaid does not provide. You can get:<br />

Free infant/child car seats - participation in our healthy pregnancy program with baby gift packs upon<br />
completion of approved prenatal classes.<br />
Free <strong>Member</strong>ship to Boys and Girls Club of Greater Dallas – A program for young people between the<br />
ages of 6 and 18, who will be able to become a part of various health education programs and other activities.<br />
When your child joins these activities, he or she will help to develop the qualities needed to become<br />
responsible citizens and leaders. These programs include: Sports Activities, Fitness Activities, Recreation<br />
Activities, Character and Leadership Development, Education and Career Development, <strong>Health</strong> and Life<br />
Skills, and Educational Programs for The Arts.<br />
<strong>Parkland</strong> Nurse Line 24 Hours a Day, 7 Days a Week – a 24 hour Nurse Help Line to help you with health<br />
questions or to help you decide what to do about your child’s health needs.<br />
Free Sports Physicals –members can access free sports physicals at one of <strong>Parkland</strong>’s <strong>Community</strong> Oriented<br />
Primary Care Clinic (COPC) or school based Youth and Family Clinics. One sports physical is available per<br />
year. (confirm the physicals are free)<br />
Free HEALTHfirst Newsletter – A newsletter to give you information on specific health topics.<br />
Free <strong>Health</strong> Education Classes – <strong>Parkland</strong> HEALTHfirst works with our community partners to make<br />
available free and low-cost classes for parents and children. Some health topics include:<br />
- Car Seat Safety - Poison Safety<br />
- Drug & Alcohol Awareness - Prenatal Care<br />
- Immunizations - Sexually Transmitted DiseasesI<br />
- Infant Mortality - Stop Smoking classes<br />
- Nutrition - Teen Pregnancy Prevention<br />
- Oral <strong>Health</strong> - Vision Awareness<br />
- Physical Fitness - Weight Management<br />

Continued Access to Care through a network of health care providers participating with <strong>Parkland</strong><br />
HEALTHplus if Medicaid eligibility is lost.<br />
