ADVANCE REGISTRATION<br />
Advance registration is required for all Junior Docent School Program tours and graduation. Docent<br />
availability is limited, and reservations are required at least four-six weeks in advance of the<br />
desired tour date. Complete and submit a Junior Docent School Program Tour Request Form<br />
online or call the Tour Scheduler directly. Space availability for graduations is dependent on other<br />
activities and events occurring in the <strong>Museum</strong>. Please give alternate dates and times when<br />
requesting your school’s tours and graduation.<br />

You will receive a tour invoice/confirmation within ten business days after receipt of your tour<br />
requests. If we cannot accommodate all of your requests, we will contact you to arrange alternate<br />
plans.<br />
TOUR TIMES<br />
Docent-guided school group tours are booked Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, every halfhour<br />
from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursdays tours are booked from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. During October,<br />
November, March, April, and May, school group tours are also scheduled on Tuesdays,<br />
Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays starting at 9:30 a.m. Docent-guided tours are one hour in<br />
length from your scheduled start time. The following tours are ninety minutes in length: Year 1, Tour<br />
1, Experiencing <strong>Art</strong> Through the Senses with the optional Studio Workshop, and Year 3, Tour 3,<br />
Study and Sketching of <strong>Art</strong>work. The <strong>Museum</strong> is closed on Mondays, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.<br />
GROUP SIZE<br />
The minimum group size per visit is 10 students; the maximum, 120. Group size includes students<br />
only. The reduced size helps maintain a proper teaching environment in the galleries.<br />
CHAPERONES<br />
The presence and assistance of teachers and adult chaperones are essential during school tours.<br />
Adult chaperones are responsible for student conduct and adherence to the <strong>Museum</strong>’s visitor<br />
etiquette. One chaperone per ten students is required.<br />
Chaperones must stay with their group while visiting the <strong>Museum</strong>. Please ensure that all<br />
chaperones are aware of the vital role they will play during your tour. In addition, please share the<br />
“Chaperone Responsibilities” handout. The <strong>Museum</strong> requires that chaperones<br />
1. monitor and supervise students through the duration of the visit;<br />
2. explain to and model for the students the <strong>Museum</strong>’s visitor etiquette (view the <strong>Museum</strong> Manners<br />
video at mam.org/u/museum-manners);<br />
3. assist in the distribution of materials and in clean-up after in-gallery activities.<br />
ADMISSION<br />
One adult chaperone per ten students is required; these adults are admitted free of charge. One<br />
additional adult per ten students is admitted at the student rate. Any other adults must pay the full<br />
adult group tour fee.<br />
