Pioneer Days<br />
In June, the city of Alvord<br />
organizes Pioneer Days at Elm<br />
Creek Park in celebration of the<br />
small <strong>to</strong>wn.<br />
The weekend-long event includes:<br />
• Friends of the FFA cook-off<br />
• 4-H Kids Zone including a<br />
petting zoo, lemonade stand,<br />
face-painting and bounce<br />
house<br />
• Alvord Public Library’s<br />
Dominoes in the Park<br />
• Shorty Wheelis Fish Fry<br />
scholarship fundraiser<br />
• food booths<br />
• live music<br />
Fall Festival<br />
The city of Alvord gathers in<br />
mid-Oc<strong>to</strong>ber for a fall festival,<br />
in conjunction with the fire<br />
department’s annual fish fry.<br />
This one-day event includes:<br />
• arts and crafts<br />
• vendors<br />
• music<br />
• pumpkin giveaway<br />

Boyd Cookoff<br />
Originally organized by the<br />
Boyd Fire Department, the<br />
former Boyd Chili Cookoff now<br />
benefits the parks and recreation<br />
board. They also now encompass<br />
the judging of several<br />
foods such as chili, beans and<br />
brisket.<br />
In addition <strong>to</strong> the judging<br />
of foods, this one-day event<br />
includes:<br />
• a parade<br />
• live music<br />
• vendors<br />
• an auction
