forcibly remove Indian children from their families and place them into residential<br />
schools saying,<br />
“I want to get rid of the Indian problem…”<br />
“Our objective is to continue until there is not a single Indian in Canada that has<br />
not been absorbed into the body politic, and there is no Indian question, and no<br />

By 1930s the aggressive Indian policies first initiated by the Macdonald<br />
government were alive and well. Superintendent Scott almost succeeded in<br />
accomplishing the departmental primary goal, to do away with the Indian fact.<br />
