PARISH CARNIVAL Holy Angels Parish will host a Parish Carnival on May 31 to June 4 at the St. Matthew School Grounds. Save the dates and come join us for a fun week of rides, games, great food, and entertainment. We are looking for eager volunteers who would like to help with the following committees: Trailer Captains (Games); Prize Committee; Food & Beverage; Entertainment Chairman; Advertisement; Sponsors; Ticket Sales; Raffles-50/50; Set Up/ Break Down. Complete your pledge form using your home address, and designate House of Charity in the Donor Choice section, along with any other information they may require. HOUSE OF CHARITY The 2011 House of Charity Bishop’s Annual Appeal is underway. This year’s theme is “Changing Hearts,” a faith-based agency that is aimed at supporting Social & Community Services, Evangelization and Compassionate Outreach, Health Services, Care and Education of Seminarians, Youth Ministry, and Support of the Local Parish. To assist the Diocese of Camden in meeting these Pastoral challenges, our parish goal this campaign is $162,300 toward this end. Your charitable and generous support is needed if we are to reach our goal. As an incentive, when a parish reaches its goal, the parish will receive back 10% of the goal amount. This rebate would be used exclusively for the needs of our parish. Please consider your gift in the coming weeks as individual mailings become available. STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION “It is written: The Lord, your God, shall you worship and him alone shall you serve.” (Matthew 4:10a) The world tempts us with so much. Like Jesus on the top of the mountain, we can all see magnificent possessions, power, adventures, activities or accomplishments that tempt us to push God into the background of our lives. Yet, we must follow the example of Jesus and back away from the temptations of the world so that we have more time in our lives to live Stewardship serving our God. Lent provides us with the perfect opportunity to make a change that will last not just for forty days but for a lifetime. † LIFELONG FAITH FORMATION † OFFICE OF FAMILY FAITH FORMATION As we plan for next year, I wish to take this opportunity to thank all of our volunteer catechists, our parents, and children who have joined together to form a vibrant Holy Angels Faith Formation program. Including our Catholic Schools, we serve approximately 750 children. We are bulging at the seams -- each classroom is used, along with spaces in the Ministry Building and the lower level of our Parish Worship Center. Each year we grow larger and need more help. In order to accommodate everyone, I am asking for volunteers to step forward to share their faith with our children. Our textbooks are a great tool -- and I will gladly hold workshops to help calm all fears. Presently our schedule for 2011-2012 is: Sunday Grades 2 through 6 -- 8:15 to 9:15 Sunday Grades 2 through 8 -- 11:00 to 12:00 Tuesday Grades 2 through 6 -- 4:30 to 5:30 Wednesday Grades 2 through 6 -- 4:30 to 5:30 Our First Graders participate in Family Catechesis Please call my office at 853-6681 if you can help. Thank You, Sister Joann RCIA/ADULT EDUCATION Upcoming sessions: March 20—The Myster of Grace and Justification (2nd Sunday of Lent) March 27— The First Scrutiny (3rd Sunday of Lent) - Presentation of Creed VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL Greater Woodbury Cooperative Ministry is looking for adult volunteers to work with leadership to run the Vacation Bible School for the children. This is a community undertaking of the eight Churches of the Greater Woodbury Cooperative Ministry. The Vacation Bible School will be held July 25 – 29, 2011 Monday to Friday at 9am–12 noon. The program services children ages 4 through grade six. The program revolves around five stations comprising the following activities: Arts and Crafts, Music, Story Time, Recreation and Snack. Parents who would like to volunteer but have younger children are also welcome. A nursery is provided for the children younger than 4. Responsibilities would also entail supervising the teens who also volunteer to help with the program. The deadline for signing up for this ministry is Sunday, April 24, 2011. An adequate number of adults would lighten the burden of this ministry and ward off the need to cancel the program as happened last year. YOUTH NEWS The Junior Youth Ministry will be performing Live Stations of the Cross Palm Sunday at 7pm following the 6pm mass in the Holy Angels Worship Center. We need children to play the parts of the stations. If you would like to be a part of this celebration please contact Mrs. Pegues, nancycurtispegues@comcast.net The 6pm Youth Sunday Mass is looking for youth volunteers to be a part of the mass. Track is open to all parish children from Kindergarten to 8 th grade. We compete in the GCCAL. Spaces are available for preschool through 8th grade. Holy Trinity Regional School is hosting an Open House every Friday from 8:30-10:30 am. Holy Trinity will be collecting lightly worn clothing, usable linens, bedding, handbags, toys, and shoes on April 2 from 9 a.m. until noon. Please place toys and shoes in separate bags. No boxed items please! Items may be dropped off in front of the school gym. Holy Trinity Family Fun Night is March 25 from 6pm to 9pm in the school gym. Play Minute to Win It, make your own sundae, create sand art, visit with Spongebob, Spiderman, Cinderella, and lots more! Tickets are $6 each and may be purchased in the school office or at the door. Holy Trinity Regional School is offering tickets to the Riversharks Games on May 20th, 21st, and 22nd.There will be special events all three nights including fireworks on the 20th!
