October 17,2010 Recovered from Finnegan's Grill a Dell Precision 390 computer
which contained SVR software operating the video surveillance system for the
business. Interviewed Steve Van Ostrand with Det Brown of Mount Pleasant Police.
Mr. Van Ostrand signed a consent to search the video system and provided the
passwords to the system. Additionally received from Det Brown an American
Dynamics digital video recorder which had previously been obtained from a Citi Bank
security representative who had removed it from the Citi Bank branch located
adjacent to the scene of the incident.
After securing all evidence immediately available at the scene the Investigator
Grascia and I transported the items in our custody back the High Technology lad at
the Westchester County DA's office where the Finnegan's Grill system was cloned
and acquired. The cloned drives were then utilized to examine the video in the
system. Investigator Grascia began a review of the video contained in the system.
Video clips to be burned and TOT to investigative team. I continued by conducting
an exam of the Citi Bank Video system to determine what would be needed to
examine the video contained therein. We did not have in stock the hard drives
necessary to perform a proper examination at this time.
October 18,2010 I purchased 2 hard drives to utilized in the examination of the Citi
Bank video system. After obtaining the drives I cloned and acquired the original
drives and replaced the originals with the cloned drives in the system. An initial
examination of the video system showed the available video to have stopped on
10/8/2010. Video file entries were located in the image directory for the date of the
incident but are in proprietary format. Contacted Citi Bank representative who placed
me in contact with the manufacturer of the system; investigation of system to
continue.
November 1, 2010 I met with Brad Kriedman who is a Senior Applications Engineer
with American Dynamics; the manufacturer of the Citi Bank video recorder. Mr.
Kriedman assisted in the process of recovering video that had been recorded on the
date of the incident. All recovered video was burned out to disk and tot for further
investigation
