HMCS Fredericton Christmas
Video Messages Event
Families and friends can record a
personal Christmas message to
their loved one who is deployed on
HMCS Fredericton. Your loved one
will receive his/her own personal
DVD for viewing pleasure. All messages
will be recorded in a private
room, so sing a song, bring your
pet, perform a skit, etc. Be creative
in delivering your message. Messages
will be recorded on a first
come, first served basis.
We will also be having a hot dog
and hamburger BBQ during this
time. All food will be provided by
Deployment Services.

Network Glow-in-the-Dark
Bowling and Pizza Party
A gathering of family and friends
of HMCS Fredericton to connect
and socialize over a fun game of
Glow-in-the-Dark bowling. Pizza
and soft drinks will be provided by
Deployment Services immediately
following the bowling.

HMCS Fredericton CO’s Monthly
Family Briefing & Pot Luck Event
Please join us for the monthly
CO’s Family Briefing. The CO will
call at 3 p.m. and provide us with a
powerpoint and video presentation
of the ship’s happenings since it
departed Halifax. Following the
presentations, we will chow down
on all the great food you brought.
When registering, please indicate
what type of food you will be bringing
in—salad, dessert or main dish.
Coming up on Sunday, November
29 and December 20, Halifax
Site from 2 to 7 p.m.
All briefings will start at 3 pm.
Casual care is available at no
cost. Register for casual care no later
than noon on Thursday before
the briefing.
Deployment Family Networks
Family networks are a wonderful
and affordable means for military
families with common concerns
and interests to join in on a variety
of fun social events every month for
the duration of the deployment.
Consisting of family members and
friends of deployed CF members,
networks are set up at the beginning
of a deployment for families to
share information, make new supportive
friends and organize all
kinds of special outings and events.

déploiement. Chaque mois, une
grande variété d’activités sociales
plus amusantes les unes que les
autres sont organisées pour permettre
aux familles avec des intérêts
et des soucis communs de se rencontrer.
Constitués de membres
de la famille et d’amis des membres
des FC déployés, les réseaux
sont mis en place au début du
déploiement pour permettre aux
familles de partager des informations,
rencontrer de nouveaux amis
et organiser toutes sortes de sorties
et d’évènements pour toute la durée
du déploiement.

Readiness Information Briefing
A Pre-Deployment Family
Readiness Information Briefing
will be held at the Piers Military
Community Centre on Tuesday,
December 1, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
for all members and their families
who are preparing to deploy to a CF
operation, such as Afghanistan,
Sierra Leone, Sudan etc. The purpose
of this briefing is to provide
families with information to assist
them in preparing for deployment,
some of the various support organizations
available to them and the
services they provide. Informative
presentations include CF resources
available to support families which
includes benefits and allowances,
legal (AJAG) and Halifax & Region
MFRC and the programs and
resources provided which includes
Family Networks and events, Casual
& Emergency Childcare, and
Morale Mail to name a few. While
there will be focus on those deploying
to Afghanistan, this briefing
will be beneficial for any member
or family who may be deployed in
future operations.
Even if your loved one has
already on their deployment, you
are more than welcome to attend.
Casual care will be available
from 6:15 to 8:45 p.m. Registration
deadline for attendance and casual
care is noon on Friday, November
27. Please call 427-7788 to register.
Op We Care: Christmas
Package Assembly Event
Volunteers and deployed family
members gather to assemble Christmas
Morale packages that will be
sent to CF members who are independently
deployed throughout the
world. These particular CF members,
who receive the morale packages
are not only separated from
their families but also from their
regular military units in the Maritimes.
Through the periodic mailing
of care packages we hope to
remind our military members that
they are thought of and appreciated.
Op We Care aims to boost the
morale of the CF members. After
we assemble and decorate the
parcels, we’ll end the afternoon
with some festive treats.

HMCS Fredericton and
Homefront Connections
Children’s Christmas Party
Christmas party for families of
HMCS Fredericton and other
deployed families. Ho! ho! ho! This
party will include the favourites:
face painting, craft making, Santa
and Mrs. Claus, and more.
We will end the afternoon with a
potluck supper. Participants are
asked to bring a Christmas dish/
dessert and the recipe to share with
other families. During the afternoon
a copy of all recipes will be
assembled for families to take
home. Also, we will be taking pictures
of each child with Santa and
will have a printed copy for participants
before they leave.
Gift from Santa: Participants will
be reimbursed half the cost of each
gift, not to exceed $10 per gift. Parents
are to purchase their own
child’s/children’s gifts (max $20
per gift) and bring them into the
H&R MFRC Halifax Site no later
than Friday December 11, Sunday,
December 13, 2 to 7 p.m.

Video Teleconferencing
The H&R MFRC has a video teleconferencing
system at our Halifax
site for families of members
deployed to Kandahar. Contact the
MFRC at 427-7788 for more information
on the VTC system.

Windsor Park and programs at the

Hampton Gray Memorial Building.
Registration: Please register and
pay for MFRC programs including
childcare. Registration is not complete
until participants have paid
for the program/event. You can
register and pay for any program
at whichever site is more convenient
for you—Halifax or Shearwater.
We also accept credit and
debit cards for payment over $5 per
transaction.
