danger to others on the bus may lose their transportation privileges. Also, please reference the<br />
<strong>Harlan</strong> <strong>County</strong> Code of Conduct.<br />
ARRIVAL AT SCHOOL<br />
Students who ride the bus disembark in the area at the front of the school. They are to then report<br />
directly to the gym or cafeteria or media center. Also, all other students arriving prior to 8:10<br />
a.m. are to report immediately to the gym or cafeteria upon entering the campus. No students are<br />
to arrive at school prior to 7:40 a.m. unless supervised by the parent or unless supervision<br />
arrangements have been made by the administration. Upon the 8:10 a.m. bell, students will be<br />
dismissed to go directly to the first class of the day.<br />
DISMISSAL FROM SCHOOL<br />
Upon the 3:00 p.m. bell to dismiss school, students should leave class, visit lockers, and report<br />
promptly to the bus loading area. Buses usually begin leaving the loading area by 3:10 p.m.<br />
Students who ride a late bus are restricted to the following areas for the purpose of supervision:<br />
front of the building by the flag pole, under the loading canopy, and in the front lobby area of the<br />
school.<br />
VISITORS<br />
A visitor is any person who is not a regular school employee or a student at the school.<br />
The following regulations will be followed in regards to visitors at school:<br />
1. All visitors must first register with the office. Visitors will be required to wear an ID<br />
badge while visiting the HCHS campus.<br />
2. Parents and guardians are invited to visit the school at their convenience. Please call<br />
beforehand if possible.<br />
3. Upon request all visitors must identify themselves to proper school authorities in the<br />
school building or on school grounds. All students please advise your parents and<br />
friends of this policy.<br />
4. Students are not allowed to bring a visitor to school without prior approval of the<br />
school’s administration.<br />
5. All visitors are required to follow school rules.<br />
6. All visitors shall submit a photo ID, unless personally known.<br />
FIRE AND TORNADO DRILLS<br />
Fire and tornado lockdown and earthquake drills will be held from time to<br />
time and each room has a specific pattern of action to follow. Every student<br />
and teacher should be familiar with any room they occupy. All alarms are to<br />
be followed unless the office indicates otherwise by the public address<br />
system.<br />
