REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION<br />

School Entry Requirements- Secondary Students Entering for the First Time<br />

Birth Certificate<br />

KRS 158.032 requires a certified copy of the student’s birth certificate be on file within 30<br />

days of enrolling.<br />

Physical Examination<br />

KRS 156.070 requires students enrolling in a Kentucky school as a transfer student from an<br />

out-of-state school to submit confirmation of a current physical exam (on the Kentucky Physical<br />

Form) within 30 days of enrolling.<br />

Up-to-Date Immunization Certificate<br />

KRS 214.034 requires that all students enrolled in a Kentucky school have a current<br />

immunization certificate on file with the school.<br />

Eye Examination<br />

KRS 156.160 requires students enrolling in a Kentucky school as a transfer student from an<br />

out-of-state school to submit confirmation of a current eye exam (on the Kentucky Eye Exam<br />

Form) within 30 days of enrolling.<br />

HARLAN COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL AMBASSADORS<br />

The purpose of the HCHS Student Ambassadors is the promotion of desirable student citizenship<br />

and the general welfare of the total school community by means of cooperation between<br />

students, faculty, and administration. The HCHS Student Ambassadors will be comprised of two<br />

groups; the HCHS Student Government and the HCHS Gifted Student Leaders. Members of the<br />

HCHS Student Ambassadors are active in organizing school activities and serving on school<br />

committees.<br />

HCHS Student Government will consist of an executive council and a senator and two<br />

representatives from each class, serving as a student senate. Students must submit an application<br />

and two teacher recommendations in order to be placed on the ballot to be elected by the class<br />

they represent. The executive council will consist of a President, Vice-President, Secretary and<br />

Treasurer elected by the entire student body. The election will take place the first month of<br />

school. A faculty member will serve as executive advisor to the committee and as liaison to the<br />

Site-Base Decision Making council.<br />

The Gifted Leadership Team will consist of students who have been identified as gifted in the<br />

area of Leadership.<br />
