3.8 On the other hand, the number of people working in the services<br />
sector is expected to grow even faster. Employment in all. services industries,<br />
is projected to increase by aa average of 3% a year between 1991 and 2001,<br />
compared with the 2.1% projected previously. While the total workforce will<br />
increase by only 348,600 persons, the services industries will see an addition<br />
of 627,900 workers over the same period of time. Ten years ago, only half of<br />
the working population were employed in the services sector and the proportion<br />
has already increased to two-third in 1991. By 2001, it is expected that every<br />
four out of five workers will be engaged in services industries. (Figure 3-B)<br />
