INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY<br />

<strong>Information</strong> collection and provision is a primary<br />

activity <strong>of</strong> the centre. The centre has one or<br />

more computers, and would like to have more.<br />

Subject areas covered: Medecine tropicale,<br />

Entomologie, Hydrobilogie, hydrologie,<br />

parisitologie, épidémiologie.<br />

Users <strong>of</strong> the Centre’s information: Primary or<br />

community level health workers, Hospital staff,<br />

doctors, nurses, Researchers, teachers,<br />

lecturers, students Other centres/nongovernmental<br />

organizations in the country, Other<br />

centres/non-governmental organizations in other<br />

countries.<br />

We use information from other centres and<br />

sources from outside the country. We use local<br />

non-formal knowledge (e.g., local health practices<br />

and traditions). We use local formal knowledge.<br />

We receive information by e-mail or from the<br />

Internet. We receive information from CD-ROMs<br />

VISION<br />

Research on biomedical and public health (major<br />

endemic diseases in West Africa). Training in<br />

laboritory technics and field research for<br />

paramedical, doctoral students, post-doc. Technical<br />

support at national, region and international levels.<br />

INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY<br />

We provide information to users by mail or other<br />

non-electronic means. We provide information to<br />

users electronically (by e-mail, diskette, CD-<br />

ROM, online, web-site, etc.). Users come to the<br />

centre to consult our information.<br />

We would like to receive training in information<br />

production, handling and dissemination skills, and<br />

in computer and Internet use.<br />
