the Corporation under the provisions <strong>of</strong> section 32 <strong>of</strong> this<br />

<strong>Act</strong> or for a period <strong>of</strong> one year from the date <strong>of</strong> such<br />

commencement, whichever is the shorter:<br />

Provided that nothing in this subsection shall be<br />

deemed to preclude an <strong>of</strong>ficer, deemed to be transferred to<br />

the service <strong>of</strong> the Corporation under this subsection, from<br />

applying at any time during such period as aforesaid, for a<br />

transfer to a <strong>Government</strong> Department in accordance with<br />

the terms and conditions <strong>of</strong> service attached to the<br />

appointment held by such <strong>of</strong>ficer at the commencement <strong>of</strong><br />

this <strong>Act</strong> and, on such application being made, the same<br />

consideration shall be given thereto as if the applicant had<br />

continued to be in the service <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Government</strong>.<br />

(2) During such period as aforesaid every such<br />

<strong>of</strong>ficer shall be so employed by the Corporation that his<br />

remuneration and conditions <strong>of</strong> service are not less<br />

favourable than those which are attached to the appointment<br />

under the <strong>Government</strong> held by such <strong>of</strong>ficer at the<br />

commencement <strong>of</strong> this <strong>Act</strong> or which would have become<br />

attached to such appointment, during such period as<br />

aforesaid, had such <strong>of</strong>ficer continued in the service <strong>of</strong> the<br />

<strong>Government</strong>, but, for the purposes <strong>of</strong> pension and gratuity,<br />

such period <strong>of</strong> service with the Corporation shall be<br />

deemed to be service with the <strong>Government</strong>; the<br />

Corporation shall pay to the <strong>Government</strong> such contributions<br />

in respect <strong>of</strong> the cost <strong>of</strong> pensions earned by such<br />

<strong>of</strong>ficers during such period as aforesaid as may be<br />

determined by the Treasurer.<br />

32. (1) Within the period <strong>of</strong> one year referred to in<br />

section 31 <strong>of</strong> this <strong>Act</strong>, the Corporation shall <strong>of</strong>fer to each<br />

<strong>of</strong>ficer transferred to the service <strong>of</strong> the Corporation under<br />

that section, permanent employment with the Corporation<br />

upon terms and conditions not less favourable than those<br />

which are attached to the appointment under the <strong>Government</strong><br />

held by such <strong>of</strong>ficer at the commencement <strong>of</strong> this <strong>Act</strong><br />

or which would have become attached to such appointment,<br />

during such period as aforesaid, had such <strong>of</strong>ficer<br />

continued in the service <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Government</strong>. In the case <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong>ficers who, on the date on which they were transferred as<br />

aforesaid, were not eligible to be contributors to the<br />

Widows and Orphans’ Pension <strong>Act</strong>, the Corporation shall,<br />

in assessing such terms and conditions, have regard to the<br />

prospect which such <strong>of</strong>ficers had <strong>of</strong> becoming, at a<br />
