apparatus shall be erected, fixed, arranged,<br />

protected, controlled, inspected, tested and<br />

maintained;<br />

(e) the qualifications to be possessed by persons<br />

before they may be entrusted with the construction,<br />

erection, repair or alteration <strong>of</strong> any<br />

installation or apparatus or with the charge <strong>of</strong><br />

any installation or the control <strong>of</strong> the operation <strong>of</strong><br />

any apparatus;<br />

(f) the nature <strong>of</strong> the tests to be employed for<br />

ascertaining whether persons possess the qualifications<br />

prescribed by rule under paragraph (e) <strong>of</strong><br />

this section, the form and period <strong>of</strong> validity <strong>of</strong><br />

certificates to be issued to persons found to<br />

possess such qualifications and the conditions <strong>of</strong><br />

the issue, suspension and revocation <strong>of</strong> such<br />

certificates;<br />

(g) the approval and registration <strong>of</strong> wiring contractors<br />

and the fees to be paid for such registration;<br />

(h) the measures to be taken and the fittings to be<br />

supplied and used in connection with<br />

installations in order to ensure public and private<br />

safety;<br />

(i) the means to be adopted, whether by prohibition<br />

or otherwise, to prevent or abate any nuisance<br />

likely to arise or arising from the working <strong>of</strong> any<br />

installation or apparatus;<br />

(j) the powers and duties <strong>of</strong> inspectors appointed by<br />

the Corporation, or any licensed undertaker;<br />

(k) any other matters required to be prescribed<br />

under this <strong>Act</strong> or which may appear to the<br />

Minister expedient for the better carrying out <strong>of</strong><br />

the provisions <strong>of</strong> this <strong>Act</strong> or for securing the<br />

safety <strong>of</strong> the public or for ensuring a proper and<br />

sufficient supply <strong>of</strong> energy to the public.<br />

(2) Rules made by the Minister under the powers<br />

conferred by this section shall apply throughout <strong>The</strong><br />

<strong>Bahamas</strong> or within such part or parts there<strong>of</strong> as may be<br />

prescribed by such rules.<br />

59. (1) <strong>The</strong> Minister may from time to time in writing<br />

appoint any suitably qualified person to be a government<br />

electrical inspector who may be authorised by the Minister to<br />

inspect any electrical installation or apparatus <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Corporation or <strong>of</strong> any licensed undertaker or the wiring,<br />

fittings or apparatus used by any consumer.<br />
