section 18 <strong>of</strong> the Widows’ and Orphans’ Pension <strong>Act</strong> shall<br />

apply, and, for such purpose, service with the Corporation<br />

shall be deemed to be service to which such section relates.<br />

PART IV<br />

ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY, ETC.<br />

38. (1) Where any immovable property, not being<br />

Crown land, is needed for the purposes <strong>of</strong> the Corporation,<br />

the Corporation may, in default <strong>of</strong> agreement,<br />

request the acquisition <strong>of</strong> such property and, in such case,<br />

such property may be acquired in accordance with the<br />

provisions <strong>of</strong> the Acquisition <strong>of</strong> Land <strong>Act</strong> or any other<br />

<strong>Act</strong> relating to the acquisition <strong>of</strong> land for public purposes<br />

for the time being in force, and any declaration required<br />

under any such <strong>Act</strong> that land is so needed may be made<br />

notwithstanding that compensation is to be paid out <strong>of</strong> the<br />

funds <strong>of</strong> the Corporation and such declaration shall have<br />

effect as if it were a declaration that such land is needed<br />

for a public purpose made in accordance with such <strong>Act</strong>.<br />

(2) Expenses and compensation in respect <strong>of</strong> any<br />

immovable property acquired under this section shall be<br />

paid by the Corporation.<br />

(3) Where any immovable property has been<br />

acquired under this section, the Corporation, shall pay the<br />

rent to which such property is subject.<br />

(4) Nothing in this section shall apply to the<br />

acquisition <strong>of</strong> any property in respect <strong>of</strong> which special<br />

provision in that behalf is contained in this <strong>Act</strong>.<br />

39. Whenever it appears to the Executive Chairman<br />

that it will or probably will be necessary to exercise the<br />

powers conferred by this <strong>Act</strong> upon the Corporation in<br />

respect <strong>of</strong> any land for the purpose <strong>of</strong> constructing an<br />

installation or part <strong>of</strong> an installation, the Executive<br />

Chairman or any person authorised by the Executive<br />

Chairman in that behalf may, after not less than seven days<br />

previous notice to the occupier there<strong>of</strong>, if any, enter upon<br />

such land and may survey and take levels and do all other<br />

acts necessary to ascertain the suitability <strong>of</strong> the land, so far<br />

as the same may be possible without causing damage or<br />

disturbance:<br />
