Learning Resource Center (LRC)
Mission:
To provide the "ideal standard" for the learning environment
Objectives:
• To provide medical students with innovative tools and
opportunities to acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes that will
enable them to become effective and safe members of the health
care society.
• To employ the latest advances in Information and
Communications Technologies (ICT) to enhance medical
education, practice and research.
• To acquire, maintain and provide access to comprehensive
educational aids that support the curriculum.
• To help students develop good study habits and effective learning
strategies.
• To provide a modern well-equipped facility that contributes to
study and clinical training to maximize access to information for
students, house-officers, residents and Faculty members.
• To train medical professionals on using innovative teaching
methodologies and information technology for professional
purposes.
Infrastructure
The LRC is a six-floors building equipped with a large auditorium (700
seats), 2 medium sized lecture theatres (400 seats) and six mall lecture
rooms (70 seats) suitable for conducting workshops, seminars and
symposia. Composed of:
A. ICT network.
B. 7 servers with dual processes & 2 quad serves.
C. A 10Mb broad band leased line Internet connection, a 34 Mb
Internet 2 connection connecting the LRC to local, regional &
international academic centers and a WiFi Internet connection
throughout the center where cables are difficult to reach.
D. LAN connections connecting the LRC to the Surgical Suites in the
Hospital, Radiology unit, Hospital units & Faculty Administration
building.
