Regulations & Bylaws Faculty Year Starts in 3 rd Sunday of September, the Faculty year is not less than thirty weeks. The study terminates by the end of the final examinations period. Cairo University determines the date of the midyear recess which is two weeks. Undergraduate Admission: Students with the highest secondary school grades are admitted through the admission office of the Ministry of Higher Education. No placement aptitude or achievement examination. Priority for admission is given to the applicants with highest grades of the Egyptian Thanawya Amma. Other National secondary school certificates & as well as International (i.e. GCSE, IGCSE….. etc.) are also accepted through the admission office. Geogradphical distribution, Good Health & reputation are considered. Fees for the Egyptian students are 138 LE for new comers and 110 LE/per year there after. The student can't register himself in more than one Faculty. Foreign Students: Present their documents to the foreign students department of the Ministry of Higher Education. Fees for Foreign students are 3000 Sterling pounds for the first year then 1500 Sterling pounds per each following year. Cairo University/Malaysian Agreement Students: The agreement was signed 5/2006 between Cairo University & Malaysian government (JPA) to allow Malaysian students to join Faculty of Medicine to study the undergraduate programme in English. 2006/2007, 108 Malaysian student were enrolled among Faculty of Medicine Students. 48
NB: more than 430 Malaysian students are enrolled among our students. They are making good progress. Other Admissions: Transfer Students: • Transference between Faculties is central at Cairo University. • Priority to students with highest Grades. • Excellent or very good grades only are accepted. • Within the first month of Faculty year. • The work & residence of the students father should be in Cairo. • Transference from Universities located in great Cairo area or with different learning programmes (eg. Suez-Canal University) are not allowed. • Transference after onset of clinical stage (fourth grade) is not allowed. • Number of transferred students should not exceed 5% of registered students of each grade. • Transference regulations are discussed and approved by the Faculty council for each coming year.
