Three examples are cited here: a. Gahkom Fault: The Gahkom earthquakes of 1962.11.06, 1963.07.29, 196~.08.27 and the Sarchahan earthquakes of 1965.06.21 and 1974.12.02 [Berberlan and Tchalenko 1976a] which took place along the Gahkom deep-seated hlgh-angle reverse fault system, may indicate the activity of the fault at depth (Fig. 5 and Table III). The fault plane solutions of the 1965.06.21 [McKenzle 1972] and 1963.07.29 [Canltez 1969] earthquakes show thrusting at depth parallel to the surface trend of the fault. The fault forms the southeastern segment of the High Zagros fault system, the ACTIVE FAULTING AND TECTONICS OF IRAN 49
