Our products and technologies are not all that is new: the Wirtgen
Group’s exhibition concept has also changed considerably since
2010. Our exhibition area has grown, both horizontally – with the
result that we can now, for the first time, present our road and mineral
technologies in their full depth – as well as vertically. Our Skywalk
not only offers a completely new view of our complete product
portfolio on the ground floor, but also provides new insights into our
range of services, from customer service, training and application

We proudly present no fewer than 29 product innovations among
our 96 bauma exhibits this year: three machines representing the
new generation of cold recyclers and soil stabilizers, three new slipform
pavers of modular design, all of eleven »dash 3« asphalt pavers

The new WR generation of cold recyclers and soil stabilizers
is everything from compact to powerful. Following
up on the success of the award-winning and customeracclaimed
WR 240, Wirtgen is now introducing the
WR 200 and WR 250 in time for bauma 2013, rounding off the
range of mobile wheeled cold recyclers and soil stabilizers.
The WR 240 is a powerful all-rounder for stabilizing large
areas of non-cohesive soil and economically processing damaged
asphalt pavements by cold recycling. Despite its high output,
it requires little fuel thanks to its cutting-edge motor management,
thus tangibly cutting contractors’ costs.
Compact and powerful
For the first time, Wirtgen is presenting the WR 200, a smaller version
of the WR 240. With impressive manoeuvrability, this compact
machine comes into its own on small and confined sites. Due to its
smaller dimensions, it does not require a special permit for transport,
making it the ideal candidate for one-day jobs. The WR 250 is
undoubtedly a workhorse. The most powerful machine in the range,
it is used above all to stabilize heavy, marshy ground, as well as for
recycling and pulverization jobs on site, where it homogeneously
granulates pavements up to 25 centimetres thick. A milling drum

Soil stabilization
• Large glazed mobile cab, camera system and driver’s seat
which pivots through 90° for a perfect overview of the
machine and job site.

Cold recycling
• Tanker trucks travelling ahead of the cold recycler supply it
with water and binders via hoses.

housing ensure homogeneous mixing.

has in fact won the renowned iF product design award 2013 in gold,
one of the most important international design awards. With the
world’s largest range of cold recyclers and soil stabilizers, Wirtgen

Series SP 80: the paving specialists
new products

years of pioneering spirit
Wirtgen also supplies individual solutions in the field of slipform
pavers. Three new specialists for concrete paving – the SP 81,
SP 82 and SP 84 – are being presented at bauma 2013. All models
combine a maximum range of uses and precisely paved results with
intuitive operation and extensive operator convenience. Additional
versions are also available for the US market, whose requirements
are thus taken into account by Wirtgen.
While the SP 81, a highly flexible offset version, paves monolithic
concrete profiles up to 2.3 metres high and 3 metres wide,
the SP 82 and SP 84 are completely modular inset versions on two
rigid or four steered and pivoting crawler tracks for producing concrete
pavements between 2 and 8 metres wide. In addition to their
large variety of uses, the new generation boasts a high cost-efficiency
and productivity, as well as a host of practical functions.

The next evolutionary step in road construction is being
presented at bauma 2013 with a completely new category
of pavers, the »dash 3« generation from Vögele. Ultramodern
and user-friendly technology is the basis for these
innovative, eco-friendly and economical asphalt pavers.

Vögele’s EcoPlus low-emissions package goes by the motto
“Lower consumption – Lower emissions – Lower costs”. The package
combines a whole range of individual measures to achieve
significant reductions in fuel consumption and noise emissions for
the »dash 3« pavers. Specifically, these involve a controlled hydraulic
oil temperature circuit, a splitter gearbox, a variable-speed
fan and energy-optimized tamper drive.
MAXIMUM PROCESS SAFETY
A constant feed of material is the prerequisite for high-quality and
level paving. That’s why Vögele developed the PaveDock Assistant
for its »dash 3« generation of pavers. An extremely efficient system
that greatly facilitates communication between the paver operator

contribution to process safety in the transfer of mix.
bETTER OPERABILITY
The user-friendly and field-tested ErgoPlus operating system was
further developed for the new »dash 3« generation and upgraded
with additional useful features. For example, the newly designed
four-colour display has a high-contrast surface that provides excellent
visibility even in poor light conditions.
The “Repositioning” function of AutoSet Plus quickly and
safely readies the paver for moves on the job site. Depending on
the paver type, various comfort functions can be executed by simply
pressing the “Execute” button: the screed, augers, hydraulically
operated hopper front, conveyors and crawler track deflector
plates are all brought into transport position. Temporarily reversing
the conveyors prevents mix from falling from the paver onto the
job site. Paving programs can also be stored with AutoSet Plus in
the Universal Class and Highway Class machines.

iNNOVATIVE SCREED TECHNOLOGY
In addition to the tractor units, Vögele has also elevated its screed
technology to the next level and developed the new AB 500 and
AB 600 extending screeds. They are ideal for all applications that
call for variability and adaptability. With their infinitely adjustable
single-tube telescoping system, these screeds cover a virtually
unlimited spectrum of applications with pave widths ranging from
2.55 to 9.5 metres.
Furthermore, Joseph Vögele AG is also presenting two new
extending screeds at bauma 2013 that are aimed specifically at
the needs of the North American market and the VISION pavers.
The VF 500 (extending units are located in front of the basic
screed, see Page 25) and VR 600 (extending units are located
behind the basic screed) guarantee perfect paving results thanks
to highly advanced screed technology.
• Tamper bar: The tamper geometry has been optimized,
resulting in a flat screed planing angle. This ensures a
longer service life and even better compaction and
evenness.
• Hydraulic crown adjustment: This function is integrated in
the screed operator’s console as standard. The crown is
adjusted quickly and precisely via push buttons. The
current crown is displayed on both screed operator’s
consoles.
• Screed heating: Extremely uniform heating of the screed
plates, tamper bar and pressure bar yields an absolutely
uniform surface. The preheating time has been markedly
reduced. An economical Alternating Mode operates when
the paver functions are set to automatic.
• Improved telescoping system: This allows better sliding
properties and at the same time a longer service life.
• Hydraulically height-adjustable end plates: The alternative
to mechanical end plates has been newly designed and
equipped with completely integrated valve technology. The
height is adjusted easily, safely and precisely.

than nine new rollers from Hamm. Hamm has additionally developed practical
solutions for all rollers to make compaction even more efficient.

Compactors of the H series stand for first-class technology
with outstanding compaction properties and excellent
visibility. Hamm is launching three new basic models
– H 11i, H 13i and H 16i – in time for bauma 2013.
The new models with their attractively designed GRP bonnets are
driven by ultramodern engines rated at 105 kilowatt which comply
with all the requirements for Tier 4i/EU IIIB. All three compactor
models are available with smooth drum, padfoot shells or padfoot
drum. A model H 13i VIO will additionally be released: with its VIO
drum, it can compact the ground with either vibration or oscillation.
The 3-point swivel joint gives the compactors excellent
manoeuvrability and optimum driving stability, even in tight bends.
They are also prepared for inclines and difficult terrain, for the
compactors have a large angle of slope both front and rear.
Operators enjoy working with the new compactors on account
of their sophisticated, ergonomic design, which starts with
the gently rounded comfortable entrance with large steps. The
ergonomically ideal seat in the cab ensures an optimum working
position for all operators. And even tall people feel at ease here,
as the cab roof offers plenty of headroom.

The “tandem rollers with plus factor” are now also available as
mid-weight models. Both the HD+ 70i with a weight of 7 tons and
the HD+ 80i with a weight of 8 tons are available as vibration,
oscillation and combi rollers, and as a high-frequency version for
the US. The Hammtronic machine management system is included
as a standard feature. With these machines, contractors
are optimally prepared for the future, for their 55.4 kilowatts diesel
engines already meet with the requirements of the next and
even more stringent exhaust emissions standard EU IV/Tier 4f
which will come into force in 2014.
The 7 and 8 tons compactors with XXL cab provide a comfortable
workplace, for they offer all-round visibility and can additionally
be equipped with air-conditioning, heating and rearview
camera on request. A ROPS version and a version with
sunroof are additionally available for hotter climates. The good
handling is due to the advantageous distribution of weight, and
the gentle automatic reversing function produces asphalt pavements
without bulges or dents. Due to their considerable offset
in crab steering mode, the “rollers with plus factor” also ensure
greater clearance when working along edges.

HD CompactLine now with oscillation
HD CompactLine series boasts no fewer than four completely
new tandem rollers. And the best thing about them is that they
are all oscillation rollers. For the first time, this stress-free, efficient
compaction technology is also available for the compact
machines. The four models weighing between 2.6 and 4.4 tons
have working widths ranging from 1 to 1.4 metres.
Oscillation yields several advantages. The rapid increase
in compaction is the most important. Application areas include
inner cities, for example, where compact rollers with oscillation
compact the ground dynamically without damaging buildings or
piping as a result of vibrations. High-speed compaction is also
advantageous when compacting thin asphalt layers applied hoton-hot
on a spray seal (DSH-V) and other thin asphalt layers. Along
seams, oscillation optimizes the compaction in relation to existing
pavements, for instance when repairing very small areas, as this
technology does not damage the cold asphalt. Numerous applications
also arise in the garden and landscaping sector, when compacting
pathways and open areas. Illumination of the drum, a cab
and grit spreader for the larger models are just a few of the many
noteworthy new options for the HD CompactLine series.

At bauma 2013, Kleemann is presenting three world premieres which stand
out through great efficiency and versatility: a powerful new secondary crushing
plant and two new jaw crushers from the EVO Contractor Line.

Versatile, economical and powerful: Kleemann will be
presenting tomorrow’s crushers at this year’s bauma.
The newly developed, track-mounted mobile jaw crushers
MC 110 Z EVO and MC 110 R EVO from the MOBICAT
series round off Kleemann’s successful EVO Contractor Line and
set new standards in the contractor market. Like the impact crushers
of the MOBIREX series, EVO stands for genuine progress in
terms of performance and cost-efficiency. No screw remained
untouched when developing the new EVO series. These ultramodern
machines from the MOBICAT series have been completely
re-engineered. In this way, Kleemann has been able to combine
such new features as hopper walls integrated into the chassis or
all-hydraulic adjustment of the crushing gap with proven concepts,
such as the independent double-deck pre-screen, thus making the
plants even more versatile and cost-efficient.

Jaw crushers of the MOBICAT series are characterized by their
robust design and outstanding overall performance. Due to
ideal interaction between the individual components and innumerable
innovative details, these plants set standards in
terms of cost-efficiency, versatility and product quality. As in the
MOBIREX series, EVO technology also brings major progress

Machines with “R” in their machine designation have a grizzly
feeder, while those with “Z” in their machine designation have a
double-deck heavy-duty screen. The type R crushers are more
compact and lighter than their sister models. They are particularly
suitable for use in recycling plants and for applications with
a small proportion of fines. Different equipment versions allow
them to be used flexibly. The type Z crushers produce an end-

extremely cost-effective operation, but also optimum feeding of
the crusher. The jaw crushers additionally stand out through their
very high loose crushing jaw: it prevents blockages of coarse material
on the one hand, while removing all elements securing the
crushing jaw from the wear area on the other. The transition from
pre-screen to feed chute is designed so that the material easily
falls directly into the crusher jaws. Continuous filling of the crusher
jaws is controlled by a continuous feed system – or CFS for
short – ensuring an even more uniform flow of material. The conveyor
frequencies of the feed chute and pre-screen can be adjusted
independently of one another in accordance with the filling
level in the crusher, thus significantly improving the machine’s
performance.

AB 500 and AB 600. Vögele’s AB 500 and AB 600 Extending
Screeds are ideal for all applications that call for variability and
adaptability. With their infinitely adjustable single-tube telescoping

Drums for innumerable possible uses
VC compactors with crusher drum. Vibratory compactors
from Hamm can do far more than simply compact the ground.
The type VC compactors H 25i VC (160 kilowatt, Tier 4i/EU IIIB)
and 3625 HT VC (155 kilowatt, Tier 3/EU IIIA) are perfect examples
of this. These machines use a completely new and extremely versatile
crusher drum. What makes them so exceptional is that their
drum is fitted with tools allowing them to simultaneously crush and
compact a whole variety of construction materials and minerals.
A patented quick-change toolholder system makes it possible
to use very different tools. Specially developed point-attack
cutting tools are ideal for crushing or relieving stress from stone,
as well as for preparing tracks through rock. However, they can
also be fitted with special padfoot shells which transform the
VC compactor into a padfoot roller.
The design of the quick-change toolholders is both sophisticated
and ergonomically outstanding. It ensures that tools
can be replaced quickly, minimizes the tendency to attract dirt
and can be cleaned without difficulty.
VA drum. The brand new VA drum is a real all-rounder permitting
dynamic compaction with varying amplitude. This is realized with
the aid of a variable imbalance via which the compacting force
can be infinitely adjusted. As a glance inside shows, the VA drum
contains a circular vibrator with two-part imbalance comprising a
fixed and a variable weight – an exceedingly energy-efficient principle.
The range of possible applications is enormous, for the
VA drum most effectively compacts cohesive, sandy and coarse
soils. It has initially been designed for the H 20i vibratory compactor
(Tier 4i/EU IIIB engine, 160 kilowatt).
The new drum can operate in two modes. The six-speed
manual mode is ideal for compacting ground of varying thickness
or consistency. In automatic mode, a target value can be set for
the rigidity of the soil. Amplitude and frequency are then infinitely
adjusted by the automatic amplitude function, thus reliably preventing
the drum from jumping.

Innovative solutions for process optimization
The HCQ Navigator
ensures compaction
of first-class quality
and homogeneity
over the entire area
and additionally documents
the complete
process.
HCQ Navigator. The HCQ Navigator is a measurement and
documentation system for compaction in earthwork and asphalt
paving. It links the measured values received from various sensors
on the rollers with the position data established via GNSS receivers.
From these, the HCQ Navigator calculates the real-time compaction
progress of all the rollers in a team and visualizes this on a compaction
map. The system owes its great cost-efficiency to the fact that
the various components can be interchanged as required between
tandem rollers, rubber-wheeled rollers and compactors.
Hamm Compaction Guide. The Hamm Compaction Guide
(prototype) is a software program for optimizing the compaction
process. The program optimizes the rolling pattern from the project’s
outset so that the required degree of compaction is
achieved everywhere by a corresponding number of machines.
During the compaction process, the operator can adjust the
roller in line with the specification via a track navigator. First
practical tests have shown that the system reduces the number
of unnecessary passes and that the resultant compaction is very
homogeneous. That means more quality with less equipment and
lower fuel consumption.
WIFM interface. The new WIFM interface for fleet management
is a handy tool for planning maintenance work. Data are transferred
via a modem which is connected to the standardized interface
connector in a matter of seconds without intervening in the machine
technology. In this way, the user is supplied with defined
machine parameters, such as operating hours, engine speed or
coolant temperature, as well as others. Maintenance work can be
organized at an early stage and critical machine conditions identified.
In combination with a GPS receiver, the system can even be
used for location monitoring, thus actively helping to prevent theft.
Fleet management:

customers’ machines.
Hamm Site Vibration Monitor. The Hamm Site
Vibration Monitor (prototype) monitors the site’s surrounding
area for vibrations, thus preventing damage
to delicate structures due to vibratory rollers. Measurement
stations dotted around the site’s perimeter
are connected to one another and to the compactor
by radio. As soon as a measured value approaches
or exceeds a limit value, a warning is
triggered and the operator informed which sensor
has emitted the warning so that corresponding
countermeasures can be taken.

Leading technology: the Wirtgen SM series
wirtgen surface miners. The Surface Miners from Wirtgen
have cutting widths of 2.2 to 4.2 metres and cut to depths of 20
to 83 centimetres – up to a uniaxial compressive strength of
120 MPa. Special machines for rock construction even cut hard
granite rock up to 260 MPa. Wirtgen is the only manufacturer to
cover a performance range from 100 to 3,000 tons per hour.
Around the world, roughly 420 machines are in use in opencast
mining or in the routing of roads, railway lines and tunnels, and
selectively mine valuable minerals, coal, limestone, gypsum, bauxite,
phosphate or iron ore in high purity. Surface Miners are also
increasingly being used for special applications involving salt,
granite, kimberlite or oil shale. With the 2200 SM, the 2500 SM and
the 4200 SM, Wirtgen offers three tried-and-tested, individually
configurable performance classes. All machines can be designed
for loading material on dumpers or for windrowing. More than two
dozen types of cutting drum are available as standard, further designs
being developed on a project-specific basis.

strength of 50 MPa. A cutting unit with a working width

CUTTING TECHNOLOGIES

HT15 QUICK-CHANGE TOOLHOLDER SYSTEM: Wirtgen, the
leading innovator, has developed the new HT15 quick-change
toolholder system. Unique the world over, this system simplifies
toolholder changing and cuts the time required for the job from
between 60 and 90 minutes to just 10 to 15 minutes. The system
was specifically developed for Surface Miners and increases
both the productivity and the availability of the machines.
WIRTGEN PICK INSPECTION (WPI): The WPI measuring system
for Surface Miners detects the wear on the cutting tools.
Sensors in the cutting drum housing measure the degree of wear
of the picks in next to no time. The worn picks are highlighted
in colour on a separate, mobile terminal. WPI enables mining
companies to optimally plan service intervals, avoid downtimes
and thus save costs.

Jaw and impact crushers: mobile reliability
The primary crusher MC 125 Z crushes material with an edge length of up to 1,250 millimetres to produce an interim product measuring 160 millimetres.
MOBICAT MC 125 Z. The mobile jaw crusher MOBICAT MC 125 Z
is a powerful primary crushing plant from Kleemann’s Quarry Line
which has been specially developed for the tough conditions prevailing
in natural stone quarries. With a crusher inlet opening of 1,250 x
1,000 millimetres and a weight of roughly 130 tons, the MC 125 Z
reliably processes up to 600 tons of stone per hour, even in adverse
conditions. Due to its diesel-electric drive system it can be operated
via a stationary power source, thus considerably reducing its fuel
consumption. In addition, a generator rated at 540 kilovolt-amperes
builds up sufficient power reserves during operation to drive such
external consumers as vibratory screens, lighting, power tools and
compressors as well.
MOBIREX MR 130 Z EVO. The mobile impact crusher MR 130 Z EVO
was the highlight of Kleemann’s presentation at bauma 2010 and
has more than just established itself since then. The MR 130 Z EVO
is one of the most powerful and cost-efficient machines of its kind
and stands out through its considerable flexibility. Crushing plants
from Kleemann’s Contractor Line can be used for a whole variety
of recycling jobs and for processing natural stone. Their compact
design and low weight make them relatively easy to transport. The
MR 130 Z EVO processes up to 450 tons per hour. When working
with frequently changing or inhomogeneous feed material, high
product quality is assured by the adjustable rotor speed and
