4.2 PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT
A public information meeting was held on June 11, 2008 between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. in the
Greater Springfield Volunteer Fire Department meeting hall in Springfield, Virginia. The purpose of this meeting
was to provide the public with information regarding this project’s scope, purpose and need, the proposed
project concept, and the study process.
A public hearing also will be held for this project. The purpose of the hearing will be to present the alternatives
and the findings of the Environmental Assessment, to provide a discussion forum between the public
and FHWA representatives, and to obtain input and comments from the community. The Environmental Assessment
will be made available for public inspection prior to and at the hearing.
