CURBSIDE GARBAGE COLLECTION - WEEKLY<br />

• Collections every Monday starting 7 am<br />

• Never place garbage out overnight unless in<br />

bear resistant bin or enclosure<br />

• Contact <strong>RDOS</strong> for ‘Bear Aware’ information<br />

• 2 - Container (bag or <strong>ca</strong>n) weekly limit<br />

• Max weight: 25 kg (55 lbs) for any bag/<strong>ca</strong>n<br />

• Max volume: 80L per bag/<strong>ca</strong>n<br />

• If you have more than two containers, place<br />

‘Tag-a-Bag’ stickers on extra bags as needed.<br />

• <strong>RDOS</strong> ‘Tag-a-bag’ stickers <strong>ca</strong>n be purchased<br />

at Naramata General Store, Campbell Mountain<br />

BLUE BAG RECYCLING - ALTERNATING WEEKS<br />

Unlimited residential recycling every two weeks as<br />

indi<strong>ca</strong>ted on <strong>ca</strong>lendar. Never place out overnight.<br />

Contact <strong>RDOS</strong> for ‘Bear Aware’ information.<br />

• Use clear or clear blue plastic bags or use a<br />

clearly marked reusable container<br />

• Mix all clean and dry recycling together<br />

• PLASTICS CONTAINERS AND BAGS -<br />

plastic grocery bags, bottles, jugs, milk bottles,<br />

and detergent bottles are okay. Rinsed clean.<br />

Remove and dis<strong>ca</strong>rd any small lids.<br />

• TIN AND ALUMINUM - <strong>ca</strong>ns, trays, empty and<br />

rinse, labels and lids are okay<br />

• MIXED PAPER - phone books, magazines,<br />

mail, magazines, <strong>ca</strong>talogues, office paper and<br />

envelopes, paper bags<br />

• BOXBOARD - cereal, pasta, laundry and shoe<br />

boxes, etc.<br />

• CORRUGATED CARDBOARD - Placed in the<br />

recycle bags or bundled and placed under the<br />

blue bag. Cardboard must be under three feet<br />

(3’), larger pieces will not be taken.<br />

NON RECYCLABLE ITEMS<br />

No Glass<br />

• NO Styrofoam<br />

in Recycling<br />

• NO glass<br />

• NO reusable plastic drinking containers such as<br />

Tupperware, Rubbermaid and sports bottles.<br />

• NO plastic oil or pesticide containers<br />

• NO paper towels or paper tissue<br />

• NO waxed <strong>ca</strong>rdboard, this is any paper or<br />

<strong>ca</strong>rdboard product that has contained a liquid or<br />

been in the fridge or freezer, e.g. milk, tetrapaks<br />

containers or ice cream <strong>ca</strong>rton.<br />

GLASS RECYCLING AT DROP OFF DEPOTS<br />

Free container glass drop off at<br />

J&C Bottle Depot, 200 Rosetown<br />

Ave, BFI Canada, 1200 Carmi Ave<br />

and the Campbell Mountain Landfill<br />

during operating hours.<br />

• Recycle all your glass containers (jars, bottles)<br />

• Clear and coloured, must be rinsed clean.<br />

• Leave labels on but no lids<br />

• No recycling of window, mirror, cup or<br />

lighting glass! Bring to landfill for disposal.<br />

Return beverage containers for deposit<br />

YARD WASTE PICKUP – ALTERNATING WEEKS<br />

During indi<strong>ca</strong>ted Yard Waste weeks (no winter<br />

pickups) place out unlimited amount of yard waste<br />

by 7:00 am on your collection day. Put yard waste in:<br />

• Clearly marked reusable containers or<br />

compostable kraft paper yard waste bags,<br />

• ‘YARD WASTE ONLY’ stickers available at<br />

<strong>RDOS</strong> Office to put on <strong>ca</strong>ns,<br />

• Bundle sticks - using string or twine (3’ max<br />

length, 3” max branch diameter).<br />

NO plastic bags, kitchen scraps, food, rocks, sod,<br />

tree stumps, flower pots / trays, construction<br />

material, lumber and animal droppings.<br />

Unlimited collection, providing it is<br />

placed out as described.<br />

LARGE ITEMS COLLECTION- ONCE PER YEAR<br />

On May 12 th , 2014 maximum 2 items per household:<br />

• Common items include furniture, fridges,<br />

freezers, large appliances and mattresses.<br />

• Max weight: 90 kg / 200 lbs per item.<br />

• NO renovation waste, including toilets,<br />

plumbing, hot water tanks and doors.<br />

• Take electronics and small appliances to (TVs,<br />

computers, etc) to the Campbelll Mtn. Landfill or<br />

J & C Bottle Depot at 200 Rosetown Ave,<br />

Penticton for free recycling.<br />
