Feng Shui – The Art of Sacred Geomancy

Today, the whole world is
looking for joy. The ant staggering
under the weight of a grain of
sugar is looking for it; the bees
painstakingly collecting it as
pollen and jealously guarding it as
honey are working for it. The
democratic nations have
enshrined it in their constitution
as the fundamental right of life,
liberty and happiness.”
Where is this sweet taste in life,
this natural condition of happiness
and the elusive JOY we all crave
for; where can we find happiness
Is it a habit we cannot cultivate or
a psyche we cannot develop or was
it something as natural as the
rivers around us, the birds singing
in the sky, the forests and the
rains, something that became
elusive and beyond us with
passage of time.
Interestingly one thing is certain
that mankind has always tried to
harness it. During one of
stonehenge's many stages, some
"simple farmers" in China
invented a compass for use in
their scientific studies of the
environment and habitations.
The science was known as
Kanyu, the Way of Heaven and
the Way of Earth. Eventually,
this science blended with
landscape arts and developed a
simpler name: Feng Shui.
Feng Shui means ‘wind and
water’, the two powerful forces
of nature. This refers to the earth,
its mountains, valleys and
waterways, whose shape and
size, direction etc are created by
the interaction of wind and
water. The laws of Feng Shui
provide a set of instructions for
positioning of bed, study table,
place of worship in order to
bring happiness, success and all
round prosperity. Harmonious
human relations between
husband and wife, parents and
children, fostering good health
are taken care of by Feng Shui.
Problems pertaining to bad
behavior of children can be
easily sorted out by making them
sleep in the right direction etc.
Feng Shui can also energize
different parts of your life. If you
want money you can energize
appropriate corners of your
house with the help of green
plants and lighting effects.
It has been found out that in
Feng Shui, vegetation and water
together elicit the highest
responses -- they constitute "a
guide to human behavior that is
both ancient and far-reaching.”
Water elicits a wide range of
positive effects on the human
psyche. As a species, we
associate relaxation and
peacefulness with natural settings
having a water feature. A variety
of researchers have tracked the
behavioral responses of humans
to water and concluded that the
motion of water in fountains has
the same "hypnotic attraction" as
a waterfall. Bands of humans
also found landscape features
such as boulders, mountains and
rock to locate at their back.
Science acknowledges that humans
are hard-wired, from the time of
australopithecus, to prefer calm and
refreshing water at the front for
soothing view surrounded by
vegetation and animals, and to
desire a mountain or other imposing
natural feature at the back to allay
fears of attack or predation. It is
amazing that traditional Feng Shui
has always preached this very
setting as the ideal for human
happiness and well-being!
Feng Shui is all about the
energy in your environment,
internal and external. From the
placement of furniture, color of
walls, location of your home, the
people in your environment and the
energy we receive from the sun,
moon and planets.
The solar flares from the
sun impact the location of magnetic
north and that magnetic north is in
constant flux. So the general
location of placement of a magnetic
north for your bed placement is ok.
The most important thing to
remember about your bed
placement is the command position,
meaning that you must be able to
see the door/entrance from the bed.
