TRIPS<br />
By law, students who travel to participate in group activities such as band, athletic contests, or any<br />
activity where they represent the school or participate in a school-sponsored program are the<br />
responsibility of and are under the jurisdiction of the school while at the activity and are governed<br />
by the regulations of the school.<br />
1. Students who attend an activity with a group sponsored by the school must conduct themselves<br />
in an orderly fashion. All school rules apply.<br />
2. Any student, while in a uniform of the school such as band, cheerleader, athletics, etc., will<br />
conduct himself/herself at all times in an orderly fashion, whether (s)he is with a group or alone.<br />

3. For any school sponsored trip, each student must bring written permission signed by his/her<br />
parents.<br />
ELECTRONIC DEVICES<br />
The following procedures will apply when a cell phone or other personal electronic device, which<br />
includes but is not limited to: cell phones, pagers, or other personal electronic devices emit an<br />
audible signal, vibrate, display a message or otherwise summon or deliver a communication<br />
to the possessor during unauthorized times.<br />
The staff will follow these basic enforcement procedures in instances when the cell phone or other<br />
personal electronic device is in use or visible or emits a sound during unauthorized times. At the<br />
beginning of the school year all students will receive a handbook and will attend class meetings to<br />
discuss school year expectations. Those meeting will serve as a verbal and written warning of<br />
consequences to be distributed for non compliance.<br />
Students are permitted to use their cell phones and other personal electronic devices before and<br />
after school and during their assigned lunch, as long as the use does not disrupt the school<br />
environment. With prior written approval from the principal, a teacher may request for students to<br />
use cell phones or other personal electronic devices during a planned instructional activity.<br />
Unauthorized use of a cell phone or other personal electronic device may include, but is not<br />
limited to: taking pictures or recording without permission, cheating, harassment or bullying, use<br />
during any emergency drill, use while being transported on state or district owned vehicles, use<br />
during unauthorized times or use for unlawful activities. When participating in an extracurricular<br />
activity or field study event, the supervising teacher may grant permission for use of cell phone or<br />
other personal electronic device.<br />
1 st Offense The device will be confiscated and returned to a parent/guardian between 3:30-<br />
4:15 on the last instructional day of the week. If a student refuses, to submit the electronic<br />
device, the student will be suspended out of school for 2 days, in addition to the consequence for<br />
this level of offence per the Student Discipline Progression Plan. A parent/guardian will be notified<br />
by the administrative office of the time for retrieving the item.<br />
