feasible, no mentor shall be assigned more than one (1) resident at a time<br />

during a <strong>school</strong> year. If a mentor is assigned for less than one (1)<br />

academic year, compensation shall be prorated.<br />

d. Confidentiality<br />

2. Teacher/Residents<br />

Any interaction, written or verbal, between the mentor teacher and the<br />

resident shall be regarded with the same confidentiality as that represented<br />

by the attorney/client relationship and shall not be used by the<br />

Board/ Administration or the Association in termination or non-renewal<br />

actions. Any violation <strong>of</strong> this tenet by the mentor shall constitute grounds<br />

for immediate removal from the role as mentor without recourse to the<br />

grievance procedure or Section 3319.16 <strong>of</strong> the Ohio Revised Code.<br />

a. Compensation and Workload<br />

The teacher/resident shall receive one hundred percent (100%) <strong>of</strong> the<br />

salary to which the teacher/resident is entitled under this Agreement. In<br />

addition, the resident shall be assured <strong>of</strong> adequate time as determined by<br />

the committee during the work day to meet with the assigned mentor.<br />

b. Confidentialitv<br />

No resident may be compelled to release information to the District<br />

regarding the resident's assessment by the ODE, nor may such information<br />

be used in the evaluation <strong>of</strong> the resident by District administrators. Any<br />

documents pertaining to the Resident Educator Program and the ODE<br />

assessment shall be confidential to the extent permitted by law.<br />

c. Protection<br />

No later than six (6) weeks after the initiation <strong>of</strong> the Resident Educator<br />

Program, the resident may exercise the option to request a new mentor. If<br />

a new mentor is assigned, the former mentor shall have his/her<br />

supplemental contract terminated without recourse to the grievance<br />

procedure and/or Section 3319.16 <strong>of</strong> the Ohio Revised Code. The new<br />

mentor shall receive a prorated share <strong>of</strong> the former mentor's supplemental<br />

salary.<br />

No adverse employment action may be taken against a resident who fails<br />

in the first year to successfully complete the Resident Educator Program,<br />

but who retains the appropriate teaching credential, unless all applicable<br />

provisions <strong>of</strong> this Agreement relating to teacher evaluation and the nonrenewal<br />

<strong>of</strong> contracts have been followed.<br />
