3: Failure to retire immediately following the <strong>school</strong> year in which the teacher first<br />

became eligible to retire will make the teacher ineligible to receive the retirement<br />

stipend or severance bonus.<br />

0. Tuition Reimbursement<br />

1. Reimbursement Limits:<br />

a. The Board will provide Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($ l 5,000) from the<br />

general fund for the purpose <strong>of</strong> tuition reimbursement.<br />

b. Reimbursement <strong>of</strong> course work shall be by the following formula:<br />

total # <strong>of</strong> paid hours<br />

to be reimbursed<br />

total reimbursement per person not to<br />

. exceed two hundred sixty dollars ($260)<br />

per semester hour or one hundred seventy<br />

dollars ($170) per quarter hour<br />

c. Hourly rate <strong>of</strong> reimbursement will not exceed actual hourly cost. If the<br />

employee has received or will receive compensation <strong>of</strong> any sort from any<br />

source for taking a course, reimbursement will not exceed the difference<br />

between the actual hourly cost and such compensation; if such<br />

compensation exceeds the actual hourly cost, no reimbursement shall<br />

apply.<br />

2. Conditions:<br />

a. Courses that qualify for reimbursement are as follows:<br />

I) Courses in staff member's undergraduate major<br />

2) Courses in staff member's undergraduate minor<br />

3) Courses in staff member's teaching field (area <strong>of</strong><br />

certification/licensure) or the member's teaching assignment or<br />

that aligns with the District's Continuous Improvement Plan or that<br />

aligns with the member's building Continuous Improvement Plan<br />

4) Courses in staff member's post graduate program that lead to<br />

ODE-approved educator/licensure (including <strong>school</strong> administrator)<br />

b. All courses must be approved by the Superintendent/designee ·prior to<br />

<strong>of</strong>ficial enrollment in the course.<br />

c. Reimbursement for courses with a starting date between July I and June<br />

30 <strong>of</strong> any fiscal year will be paid by the end <strong>of</strong> the following September if<br />

the employee has returned to service in the District. To be reimbursed<br />

employees must present a registration fee receipt and evidence <strong>of</strong><br />

successful completion by the college/university to the Treasurer by<br />
