Our assessment of student achievement in the Middle Years Program is criterion-referenced against welldefined
subject outcomes. In line with this our reporting of student achievement is intended to be both
formative in that it should inform student learning, and summative in that students will receive a global
grade of achievement in each of their subjects.
Diploma Program
The grading system used for the IB Diploma is as follows.

To pass the IB Diploma a student must:
• gain at least 24 points;
• gain 12 points in their Higher Level subjects;
• gain 9 points in their Standard Level subjects;
• receive no grade 2 in a Higher Level subject;
• receive no more than one grade 2 in a Standard Level subject;
• receive no grade 1 in any subject;
• receive no more than three grades 3 or below;
• gain a grade from A to D in both TOK and the Extended Essay;
• Complete the CAS requirements.
The above list is not exhaustive, and may be subject to change but gives a clear indication of the criteria that
students need to meet in order to gain their IB Diploma.
