Kinross Wolaroi School P&F FAIR STALLS - 5 th March 2011 PLANT Stall - needs your help! This will be my last year at KWS, I am looking for a person who would be interested in taking over the coordinating of the plant stall in 2012. PIZZA & PASTA Stall - does anyone have those portable pizza ovens – ‘The Pizza maker’ (purchased from Essential Ingredient, House or Aldi ) and would be happy to loan for the day. Thanks Cath Thompson: ccthomo@bigpond.com 1. CAREER NOTES WEEK 3 TERM 1 CSU News: CSU remind Yr 12 students that they offer online resources to help you through this year. NSW HSC Online is an extensive online learning tool with study resources such as comprehensive subject information and test papers for 51 HSC subjects including the recently added Automotive TAFE course. CSU are offering a special introduction tho their Health courses in Orange on Friday 25 th Feb in the form of a MyDay experience. This is a school day so no formal arrangements are being made to take our students but parents may be interested as the courses on show include the bachelor of Clinical Science, Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Physiotherapy and Bachelor of Dentistry. This event will also provide students with the opportunity to get an understanding of the career paths available to them after they complete their university course. For more information contact infoevents@csu.edu.au 2. Oxbridge Academic Programs offer summer study abroad experiences in Europe (Oxford, Cambridge, Paris, Montpelier & Barcelona) and now Ney York! Projects Abroad – Overseas Volunteer & Internship Programs – work across 26 developing countries offering humanitarian & career focused placements which are safe, sustainable, constructive & educational. Over 500 Australians volunteered in 2010. Each country has fully employed staff helping to ensure safety and that you make the most of the unique opportunity and challenges you are presented with. Again brochures are available from the Careers Office or online at www.projects-abroad.com.au 4. The Marine Industry Careers Guide is now available on loan from the Careers office. This brochure outlines the wide range of career pathways awaiting young people with a passion for all things boating. 5. Basair Aviation College is 1 of the largest pilot training schools in Australia. VETAB Accredited they offer a Certificate IV in Aviation and train domestic and international students to become competent commercial pilots. Their other company Sydney Aviators caters for the self paced pilot by offering a career workshop day – a full day comprehensive workshop for $400 designed to provide an introduction to the aviation industry and a valuable opportunity for potential pilots to find out about career prospects and how to enter the industry. This workshop includes 2 hours flying in a Cessna 152, 2 pre-flight and post –flight briefings & a BBQ lunch. They also offer a 2 week “First Solo” Camp which runs 9am – 5pm five days/week. Students fly 15 hours which typically includes their first solo flight & daily theory lessons about aerodynamics, meteorology, aircraft systems and aircraft performance.
