• In 2001, 56.5% of seniors
had incomes below
$20,000/yr;
• Between 2004 and 2005,
there were 322 known
cases of elder abuse in
Windsor-Essex County;
42% financial abuse;
35% physical abuse;
13% psychological abuse;
10% neglect;
• 74% of elder abuse cases
involve females, and 26%
are males;
• It is estimated that for
every reported case of
abuse, 14 incidents go
unreported;
• In September 2005,
850 people were on the
waiting lists for long-term
care facilities.
