Snippet When Pat Chadwick sent in her 2015 renewal, she enclosed a note to say that “... our Brandy [Aura Dell Alexander] is still well and enjoying his retirement with more grass than I’m sure he ever imagined. We still get people saying they remember how he went from Pony Club to Grand Prix Dressage and what an inspiration he was.” Brandy was foaled in 1982, making him a ripe old 33 this year! New South Wales NEWS FROM STATE LIAISON OFFICERS Firstly, a couple of upcoming shows for NSW: Gunning Show will have led and ridden classes for Pure and Part Morgans on Sunday, February 22. More details at www.gunningshow.com.au. Goulburn Show will also have led and ridden classes for Pure and Part Morgans on Saturday, March 21. More details at www.goulburnshow. com.au. These shows have been sponsored by MHAA and we would love to have a large number of Morgans participate on the days. Great news from Leonore Waugh from Bundanoon and her part Morgan gelding Orangoutang: “I am back in the saddle after six months and having a ball. Below is a photo of my second ride. The weekend after Christmas, Fiona and I loaded the boys on the float and met at Angela & Anna Moodie at Wingello for a lovely trail ride out from their place into the pine forest. You may recognise Sunny [Eagleview Sundown] on the left who is also a Morgan and of course Tang and I on the right. Ride was followed by a lunch of Xmas leftovers. A fabulous day was had by all. We are looking forward to a great year of riding; maybe even tackle the Wingello Endurance Ride, which we missed out on last year.” Larelle Benjamin & Red Bluff d'Maestro An update from Larrelle Benjamin and her pure Morgan gelding, Red Bluff d’Maestro: “Maestro celebrated his fourth birthday trail riding in Jervis Bay with friends. He is happy to be anywhere in the pack and really enjoys an adventure! We have a weekly trail ride with friends and another day meeting up with friends and supporting each other’s horsemanship in a riding arena. We have different obstacles set up to challenge ourselves and become more imaginative! Maestro is maturing so beautifully and always keeps us amused with his curiosity and cheeky attitude! His groundwork is progressing well also, our liberty is now extending to jumping, allowing me to touch him all over while laying down and playing fetch with a dog toy. I am really excited about our next year together. I am still putting most of my attention into my Welsh pony while Maestro continues growing. I will start doing all future horsemanship clinics with Maestro, starting next weekend with an Equine In Hand Therapy clinic.” It is with pleasure I can say “welcome back” to the Association to 13 year old Nina Hvejsel, we have missed you. “After a couple of years away from Morgans, I have been riding ponies which I recently grew far too tall for. So we were looking for a larger horse, around 16 hh to compete mostly in show jumping but a bit of dressage and pony club.
