it more notice than last year.
All those who attended the show at Ruffy spoke highly of the
facilities provided and the support from the local Ruffy Adult
Riding Club who manned the canteen and helped set up and
pack up after the show. The wonderful green grass arena and
the oak trees surrounding the grounds are a perfect setting for
any show. Although not many camped overnight, the Hills did,
and would encourage more to do so this year.
Morgan Horse Riding Group
Although we have not yet become an official riding group and
member of the HRCAV, Kerry has had several people interested
in forming this group. It only needs ten members to get the ball
rolling. If you are already a member of the HRCAV, you will only
need to pay an associate fee. For new members, your fee will
include your rider registration and insurance fees. All members
(when we are finally sorted out) will be able to compete in other
HRCAV competitions and clinics, and possibly organize some
of our own to suit the needs of the members. Morgan members
in New South Wales and South Australia are also welcome to
join this Riding Group, and become members of the HRCAV.
To have some fun, even before we have an official riding group,
John Goodwin will be organizing a social trail ride at Ruffy and
we will let you know when this is happening.
2015 HRCAV TTT Showing
Congratulations to Jodie Egginton who won an embroidered
rug. Jodie and Red Bluff Rosita won the section for the best
performed Morgan at the Show. Our team of HRCAV members
and horses consisted of Kerry Hill on Mt Tawonga Campbell,
Caitlyn Hulme on Musketeer, Jodie Egginton on Red Bluff Rosita
and Jessica Mason on Red Bluff Nakita. Kerry and Jessica say
Blair Ireland & Bellemond StonewallJakson
that their horses were not the best behaved on the day. (Jessica
says: “Unfortunately we didn’t have the best day at TTT due to
loudspeaker and some nervousness issues. But regardless, Red
Bluff Nakita looked lovely.”)
Jessica took her horse in the first two classes and then left, but
Kerry persevered with Campbell and while she reports that he
did improve by the afternoon, he was still very excited by all
the other horses. Caitlyn and Musketeer were able take home
a couple of ribbons, but Jodie Egginton had a wonderful time,
coming 3rd in the Led class, winning the Ridden class and placing
4th in Mount Most Suitable for HRCAV. A great effort. Thanks
to Jodie and Caitlyn’s efforts, our team came in 75th place out
of the 82 teams that competed. We hope that we can enter more
teams in the future and, with experience, do much better. This
HRCAV showing is pretty serious stuff! Photos next page.
Kerry Hill has been busy taking Mt Tawonga Campbell to
several shows. These include the HRCAV Top Teams event,
where members of the HRCAV were able to enter a team of four
Morgan Horses. “We did not win, but it was great to be able to
feature our breed. Two weeks later we were back at Werribee
for the Morgan Classes at the Royal Melbourne Horse Show on
the Saturday (see report elsewhere in the Messenger) and then
returning on the
Monday to compete
in the Level 3
HRCAV Ring where
we picked up some
more ribbons.
The following
weekend we spent
at Ruffy, competing
in two official
HRCAV Shows; a
twilight show on the
Saturday organized
by the North Eastern
Riding Club and on
the Sunday there
was a Gymkhana
organized by the
Kerry & Campbell
at Ruffy
