SUMMER SEMESTER 2008! ! WEEK 2 EAGLEBROOK SUMMER SEMESTER % INTERVIEWS II Jade Porthault Jade Porthault lives in Les Gets, France and she is 11 years old. Her favorite classes are acting and flying machines. Jade likes everything at EBS except study hall. Jade goes to Saint Jean D’aulps middle school. Jade wants to be better at cricket. Jade likes to eat all good food. Katey Dowling Katey lives in Hanover MA with her mom, dad, sister Bridget, and brother Joe. She is 12 years old. Before EBS she hosted her friend, Minnie Yuan, for a week. Her favorite class is wood shop. Her favorite thing here is meeting all new friends. She goes to Hanover Middle School. Her goal is to become a better person. When Katey grows up she wants to be a middle school Math teacher. She likes to eat all kinds of food. Anna Arthur She is from Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island N.Y. She is 13 years old. Before Eaglebrook, Anna spent most of her time at the beach. After Eaglebrook Anna will spend time with her friends. Her favorite class is Online Newspaper. Her favorite parts of Eaglebrook are the students and the teachers. She goes to Eastwoods School. Her goal at EBS is to get better at writing. When Anna grows up she wants to be a fashion designer. Her favorite food is pasta. Minnie Yuan Minnie lives in Taiwan. She is 13 years old. Before she came to EBS she was staying at Katey Dowling’s house. After EBS Minnie will travel to Chicago. Her favorite classes are drawing and acting. She goes to Kang Chiao Bilingual School. Her goal at EBS is to improve in Spanish. When she grows up she wants to be an actress. Her favorite food is spaghetti. Victoria Nassief Victoria Nassief is 13 years old. She lives in Dominica. Before EBS she went to Miami to meet her family and went to Boston to go shopping. After EBS she will go on a cruise form Miami to Mexico. Her favorite classes are Acting and Algebra I. At Eaglebrook she wants to learn about new cultures, go on field trips and make new friends. She goes to Fay School in Boston. Her goals here are to become more physically fit, work on her academic skills, improve in acting. When she grows up she wants to be an actress, singer, party planner, or a songwriter. Her favorite food is anything with chocolate on it. Mr . Mr. Dowling, hero of the day, scooped up the bats in a lacrosse stick and threw them outside. Bats can be dangerous as they may carry Rabies. If you see one, stay away and tell a faculty member. ! In a very close game, the American League bested the National League in the All%Star Game to earn home field advantage in the World Series. J.D. Drew earn the MVP award for his homerun. Homerun Derby Although Josh Hamilton of the Texas Rangers stormed out to a 28 homerun first round, he ran out of steam and was defeated by Justin Morneau of the Minnesota Twins in the Final Round. New Leader of Tour de France Frank Schleck of Luxembourg seized the overall lead in the Tour de France on Sunday, drawing on his strength in the mountains and getting an assist from his brother as the three%week race headed into the Italian Alps. Schleck outpaced Cadel Evans up the final climb to wrest the yellow jersey from the Australian. Schleck leads Bernhard Kohl of Austria by seven seconds while Evans is third, eight seconds back. NHL and KHL clash over six players The Russian hockey league "KHL# has appeared to sign 6 players already under contract with the NHL. Until this matter can be solve in court, players won’t be eligible to play in either league. Michelle Wie Disqualified After ending Saturday’s round in 2nd place, Michelle Wie was disqualified from the State Farn Tournament as she broke one of the games easiest rules%%% a player must sign the scorecard at the end of a round for it to be o&cial. This little oversight cost her the second place prize, '150,000. Cristiano Ronaldo staying put ! Manchester United ownership, despite rumors swirling through the European Soccer community, denies that Ronaldo will be sold this o$season. David Ortiz returning In his first rehab start following an 8 week rest for a partially torn tendon in his wrist David Ortiz homered to lead the Pawtucket Red Sox to victory. Look for him to return to the big club later this week. Beckham pleased with MLS While the quality of play in the MLS is better than people think, David Beckham said Friday that he believes the it will take time to catch up to some of the world's better leagues. "Soccer is definitely changing in this country, and it is getting bigger and growing," Beckham said. "But it is going to take time, and I said that at the start. It's not just going to happen in a year or two. It's a long%term plan to raise the profile for this game in this country. I think it has gone well so far."
