Batman-The Dark Knight
Batman has sent Spidey packing as
king of Hollywood's box%o&ce
superheroes. "The Dark Knight"
took in a record '155.34 million in
its first weekend, topping the
previous best of '151.1 million for
"Spider%Man 3" in May 2007 and
pacing Hollywood to its biggest
weekend ever, according to studio
estimates Sunday. "We knew it
would be big, but we never
expected to dominate the
marketplace like we did," said Dan
Fellman, head of distribution for
Warner Bros., which released "The
Dark Knight." The movie should
shoot past the '200 million mark
by the end of the week, he said.
Tropical Storm Dolly hits Mexico
A tropical storm warning
remained in e$ect Monday as
Tropical Storm Dolly moved over
Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula.Dolly
has spurred storm warnings from
the Mexico%Belize border
northward to the city of
Campeche, on the opposite side of
the Yucatan Peninsula. The
warning encompasses the tourist
resort of Cancun.
High Gas Prices fuel creativity
More Americans, tired of
skyrocketing gas prices, are
crossing the border to Mexico,
where fueling up costs a great deal
less.Right now a gallon of gas costs
about '3.10 in Tijuana, while it's
about '4.60 just north of the
border in the United States.That's
a '30 savings on a 20%gallon fill%up.
Rolling Billboards are the way to
go !
Misha Di Bono zips around town
in her Infiniti sport%utility vehicle,
breezy and unconcerned about the
price of gas.
That's because she gets '500 a
month %% plus free gas %% for
turning her car into a rolling
billboard for Jobing.com, the
online recruiting company she
works for."People used to tease me
about the 'Jobing' mobile, and now
they're like, 'Oh, we'll get Misha
to drive,' " she said, standing next
to her decal%covered car.
Jobing.com might be the most
extreme example of how
companies are helping employees
during the current gas crunch. But
with gas averaging more than '4 a
gallon, more and more companies
are trying to figure out incentives
to help ease the pain at the pump
for their employees.
