5.20.1.4 Location <strong>of</strong> Parking Areas in the GC and ED Zones<br />

Parking areas shall be located no closer than 1.0 metre to any lot line in the General<br />

Commercial (GC) and the Economic Development (ED) Zones.<br />

5.20.2 Regulations for driveways<br />

5.20.2.1 Surface <strong>of</strong> driveway to a parking area or a parking lot<br />

A driveway to any parking area or parking lot shall be maintained with a stable surface,<br />

which is treated so as to prevent the raising <strong>of</strong> dust or loose particles.<br />

5.20.2.2 Width <strong>of</strong> driveways leading to a parking area or a parking lot<br />

Driveways that cross a front or exterior side lot line and lead to a parking area or parking lot<br />

shall be a minimum <strong>of</strong> 6.0 metres (19.6 feet) in width for one-way traffic and a minimum <strong>of</strong><br />

12.0 metres (39.4 feet) in width for two-way traffic. This provision shall not apply to<br />

driveways that provide access to private garages associated with a residential use. In no case<br />

shall the width <strong>of</strong> a driveway exceed 30 percent <strong>of</strong> the lot frontage.<br />

5.20.2.3 Setbacks for driveways accessing single detached or semi-detached dwellings<br />

Driveways that cross a front or exterior side lot line and are used for the parking <strong>of</strong> motor<br />

vehicles and/or are used to access single detached or semi-detached dwelling units shall be<br />

located no closer than:<br />

a) 3.0 metres (9.8 feet) to the interior lot line; and,<br />

b) 3.0 metres (9.8 feet) to the exterior side lot line, if the driveway does not cross the<br />

exterior side lot line.<br />

Notwithstanding the above requirements, a driveway may be located closer than 3.0 metre (9.8<br />

feet) to the interior lot line if the driveway is to be shared with a driveway on an abutting lot<br />

and/or the driveway accesses a detached private garage in the rear yard.<br />

5.20.2.4 Location <strong>of</strong> driveway on a corner lot<br />

No driveway shall be located within 15.0 metres (49.2 feet) <strong>of</strong> the intersection <strong>of</strong> the front lot<br />

line and the exterior side lot line on a corner lot.<br />

5.21 PARKING <strong>OF</strong> RECREATIONAL TRAILERS IN THE R1, R2, RUR1, RUR2, SR<br />

AND RLS ZONES<br />

A maximum <strong>of</strong> one recreational trailer is permitted to be stored on a lot in the Residential One<br />

(R1), Residential Two (R2), Rural Residential One (RUR1), Rural Residential Two (RUR2),<br />

Shoreline Residential (SR) and Residential Limited Service (RLS) Zones that is the site <strong>of</strong> a<br />

dwelling unit, provided the trailer is owned by an occupant <strong>of</strong> the dwelling unit.<br />
