Every weekend this<br />
time of year we see<br />
multiple ranch<br />
and rodeo-related<br />
events. Here are a<br />
few of <strong>the</strong> highlights<br />
from our arenas and<br />
sort<strong>in</strong>g pens:<br />
The f<strong>in</strong>e folks at Barrett<br />
Jackson produce a noth<strong>in</strong>g short of a<br />
spectacular collector car auction every<br />
January. This year <strong>the</strong>y had record crowds<br />
along with extremely rare automobiles. But<br />
did you know <strong>the</strong>y also hold an Invitational<br />
Bull Rid<strong>in</strong>g at West World? On January<br />
16th and 17th, 20 bull riders climbed aboard<br />
some of <strong>the</strong> rankest buck<strong>in</strong>g bulls from<br />
Dirty Money Cattle Company. Bull Fighters<br />
Sean Moore and Tristan Howard along with<br />
Barrel Man Don “Hollywood” Yates helped<br />
to keep <strong>the</strong> cowboys safe. Up for grabs at this<br />
event was a cool $9000 <strong>in</strong> prize money and a<br />
championship Barrett Jackson buckle. Here’s<br />
who came out on top:<br />
Round 1 Ivan Yazzie made a<br />
86 po<strong>in</strong>t ride to w<strong>in</strong> 1st place<br />
<strong>in</strong> Round 1. He broke his<br />
free arm <strong>in</strong> two places and<br />
still managed to come out<br />
on top!<br />
Hernold John and Wyatt Betony both split 2nd<br />
place with an 85 po<strong>in</strong>t ride. O<strong>the</strong>r high<br />
scor<strong>in</strong>g rides were Armando Rodriguez with<br />
83 po<strong>in</strong>ts and Andy Selles with 79 po<strong>in</strong>ts.<br />
Round 2 Wacey Barta had a 79 po<strong>in</strong>t ride and<br />
was only cowboy to ride <strong>in</strong> Round 2 tak<strong>in</strong>g<br />
home $1800.<br />
Average Ivan Yazzie captured 1st place <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
average w<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g a $3000 check. Hernold John<br />
and Wyatt Betony tied and placed 2nd and<br />
3rd <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> average both w<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g<br />
$1850 each.<br />
Lane Granger took home $540 with a<br />
4th place f<strong>in</strong>ish <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> average by<br />
putt<strong>in</strong>g up an 84 po<strong>in</strong>t ride <strong>in</strong><br />
Round 1.<br />
The 20 compet<strong>in</strong>g bull riders were: Travis<br />
Briscoe, Wacey Barta, Patrick Chee,<br />
Just<strong>in</strong> Granger, Lane Granger, Brandon<br />
Cordova, Eric Cordova, Dusty Ephrom,<br />
Wayne Oversen, Jayme Tomczyk, Wyatt<br />
Betony, Ivan Yazzie, Casper Johns,<br />
Brandon Mccassie, Hernald John, Ryan<br />
Sellers, Pedro Reynaga, Busk<strong>in</strong> Wilson,<br />
Armondo Rodriquez, Andy Sells, and Clay<br />

The 70th Annual Yuma Jaycees Silver<br />
Spur Rodeo was held at <strong>the</strong> Yuma County<br />
Fairgrounds on Feb 13th thru 15th. This<br />
PRCA and WPRA rodeo has been a major<br />
contributor to <strong>the</strong> professional sport of rodeo<br />
<strong>in</strong> <strong>Arizona</strong>. Here are <strong>the</strong> results:<br />
All-Around Cowboy Cutter Parsons, $1,046,<br />
tie-down rop<strong>in</strong>g and steer wrestl<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
Bareback Rid<strong>in</strong>g 1. Delvecchio Kaye, 81<br />
po<strong>in</strong>ts on Honeycutt Rodeo’s Ragged Edge.<br />
Steer Wrestl<strong>in</strong>g 1. Ben Bates Jr., 4.8 seconds,<br />
$1,084.<br />
Team Rop<strong>in</strong>g 1. Garrett Rogers/Jake M<strong>in</strong>or,<br />
4.6 seconds, $1,874 each.<br />
<strong>Saddle</strong> Bronc Rid<strong>in</strong>g 1. John Redig, 81 po<strong>in</strong>ts<br />
on Honeycutt Rodeo’s Ghost Light, $1,008.<br />
Tie-Down Rop<strong>in</strong>g 1. Tyson Runyan, 10.1<br />
seconds, $1,084.<br />
Barrel Rac<strong>in</strong>g 1. Vickie Carter, 17.70 seconds.<br />
Bull Rid<strong>in</strong>g 1. Joseph Vazquez, 88 po<strong>in</strong>ts on<br />
Honeycutt Rodeo’s Rocky Top.<br />
Total payoff for this rodeo was $41,097!<br />
