Men’s Hair Styling and Barbering will give students the theoretical and
practical tools and skills to perform men’s sculpting and coloring. Students will
learn about and how to put into practice techniques that are specifically geared
toward creating sculpted forms and coloring techniques in a variety of lengths
that most reflect the masculine sensibility. Students will also be taught a basic
level of barbering which is required for the Manitoba Government Examination.
This requires the student to perform a straight blade shave around the ears and
nape, along with ear, nose, eyebrow, and beard trimming.
Advanced Hairstyling and Coloring will allow students to
build on their previous learned skills with a large amount of creative freedom.
This phase of the course is designed to enable the student to build skills through
the introduction of new concepts, the review of old concepts and the practical
application of all concepts. The students in this phase are required to strive
for perfection. Students will apply their techniques while building a clientele,
customer relationships and work experience in a real salon setting. Students will
be able to increase their abilities in thermal styling, roller sets, pin curls, finger
weaves, braiding and formal updos. Advance training will be provided in areas of
hair lightening and toning, color correction, special effects and haircutting and
styling.
Aim:
and develop the necessary skills to perform successfully as
a licensed cosmetologist.
Course Rationale: Students will leave this course with a full understanding of
the employability skills while mastering the techniques
required in today’s beauty industry. The acquired abilities
learned in the cosmetology program will enable students to
seek employment in an exciting and ever changing
occupation with vast opportunities to achieve excellence in
the industry.
Course Format:
Lessons will consist of theory and hands-on supervised practical
work. Although a combination of lectures, demonstrations and
