Students will be respectful to others. Disrespect and rude behaviour will notbe tolerated.2. Students will not leave the room without permission.3. Students are expected to use appropriate language in the classroom.4. Students are expected to respect school property.5. Students are expected to come prepared for class.6. Any students suspected of cheating on tests, assignments or homework mayreceive a zero, be suspended or removed from the classroom.7. If a student is asked to leave the room they will remain outside the door andwill wait for the teacher.8. No cell phones are to be used in the classroom.9. Students who arrive late will be recorded on the attendance record; 3 latesequal 1 absence.10. If you are absent from the class for any reason, it is your responsibility toinquire about missed work, quizzes and tests.11. A test or quiz missed due to an unexcused absence will receive a zero.12. Students who are absent for more than 12 classes may be removed from thecourse.13. Late assignment will be deducted 10% per day.If a student has difficulty meeting the above expectations, any of the followingconsequences will be enforced: Meeting with the teacher Meeting with the teacher/student/parent Meeting with administration Additional assignment Suspension from class Other


Course Content:This course is a look at Canada’s history. We will explore major themes, characters andevents while connecting the past to the present. Since the past directly influences presentday issues, it is important to be aware of current events. Part of this course will be basedon the discussion of current events; every day at the beginning of class, we will have ashort 5 to 10 minute discussion on current events. Assessment:Term Work: 80 %- Tests/Quizzes – 30%- Assignments – 25%- Projects – 20%- Current Events – 5%Final Exam: 20%It is imperative that all assignments be turned in on time. If there is a situation where it isimpossible to turn an assignment in on the due date, the student must speak to me at leastone day prior to the due date (not at the beginning of class!).You are expected to come to class prepared with a binder, paper, a pen/pencil and yourtextbook!Note:Plagiarism is a serious offence and will be treated as such in my classroom. If you arecaught plagiarizing:‣ You will receive a zero on the assignment.‣ You may have to redo the assignment.You will be referred to administration and they will deal with you accordingly
