4.0 EXISTING ENVIRONMENT – LNG FACILITY
To determine potential impacts associated with the construction and operation of the LNG Facility, QGC
undertook detailed assessment studies of the existing environment, including but not limited to:
terrestrial and marine ecology;
topography and geomorphology;
land use;
surface and groundwater resources; and
geology and soils.
This following section provides a brief description of the existing environment on Curtis Island, and the
methodology used to assess the LNG Facility site and potential impacts. For more detail, refer to Volume 5
of the QCLNG draft EIS and supplementary EIS.
4.1 Methodology
4.1.1 Desktop Studies
Prior to field investigations, desktop assessments and literature reviews were undertaken to ensure that
field surveys were appropriate to the proposed developments and the study area.
