4.0 EXISTING ENVIRONMENT – <strong>LNG</strong> FACILITY<br />
To determine potential impacts associated with the construction and operation of the <strong>LNG</strong> <strong>Facility</strong>, <strong>QGC</strong><br />
undertook detailed assessment studies of the existing environment, including but not limited to:<br />
terrestrial and marine ecology;<br />
topography and geomorphology;<br />
land use;<br />
surface and groundwater resources; and<br />
geology and soils.<br />
This following section provides a brief description of the existing environment on Curtis Island, and the<br />
methodology used to assess the <strong>LNG</strong> <strong>Facility</strong> site and potential impacts. For more detail, refer to Volume 5<br />
of the QC<strong>LNG</strong> draft EIS and supplementary EIS.<br />
4.1 Methodology<br />
4.1.1 Desktop Studies<br />
Prior to field investigations, desktop assessments and literature reviews were undertaken to ensure that<br />
field surveys were appropriate to the proposed developments and the study area.<br />
