The Transition Team invites
you to celebrate the official
launch of our Holy History
Timeline in the Fellowship Hall. We will
have a Phinney Ridge History Trivia Game
with prizes; time to add your own stories,
pictures and church ephemera to the
timeline; and a quick update from a representative
of the Transition Team to let you
know how we are moving forward in this
interim period between pastors. And of
course, there will be ice cream!

Report: Lutheran Summer Music 2013
Have you heard of “Lutheran Summer Music”
and always wondered what that’s all
about? This Sunday’s Adult Forum is your
chance to find out! Come and hear from
those who attended in 2013 about the experience,
and enjoy the fruits of their labor
in music and song.

The WAY: Past, Present, and Future
Twenty years ago PRLC adopted “The
WAY”— a new process for bringing people
to Christ and into the church. Come see
and hear some stories of its early days as
well as listen to an update on this important
ministry during this time of transition.
Upcoming Adult Forums
October 6: TWO Offerings!
1) St. Francis – Life and History
Join Pastor Dick Christensen to look at the
life and times of St. Francis and his legacy
to the Christian community. This Adult Forum
will be a great accompaniment to the
traditional blessing of the animals at the
8:30 service.
2) Parents with Teens – Adolescence: A
Time for Rejoicing (really!)
The first meeting of this circle will focus on
just what the developmental phase of adolescence
is all about. Information will be
provided about what’s going on physically
(aka hormones), emotionally, and culturally
with today’s teens, and how parents can
help their teens and themselves grow
through— and even enjoy— this time in
their youngsters’ lives.
October 13: TWO Offerings!
1) Women in the Church
According to the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians
14, "women should remain silent in the
churches." Come again? Phinney has had
active women in the church since its beginning
in 1913 as a Greenwood Ladies
Aid, from women serving on the council to
female pastors for a number of years.
There are other churches that today still
disagree with having women in church
leadership roles (usually citing Paul). What
is our response to the interpretation that
the Bible, and Christianity in general, degrades
and disrespects women by exclusion
from church leadership? Come ready
to study, reflect and discuss with each other.

2) Caregiver Circle
Pastor Christensen will meet with the group
this month to share his personal story of
caregiving and loss and to prayerfully listen
to all in the group who wish to share their
stories.
