11.0 COMPLAINTS AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION PROCEDURES<br />
The complaints and dispute resolution procedures referred to in this manual do not have <strong>the</strong> authority<br />
to hear human rights complaints as per <strong>the</strong> Canadian Human Rights Act. Individuals who wish to address<br />
human rights issues should appeal <strong>the</strong> appropriate local human rights tribunal in <strong>the</strong>ir region or to <strong>the</strong><br />
Provincial or Canadian Human Rights Commissions.<br />
COMPLAINTS CONCERNING COUNCIL<br />
Any member who believes that Council or an individual Chief or Councillor are not following <strong>the</strong> policies<br />
contained in this Leadership <strong>Manual</strong> and any o<strong>the</strong>r policies, laws and bylaws <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>First</strong> <strong>Nation</strong> can<br />
direct his or her concerns in writing (and in person if s/he so requests) to <strong>the</strong> Administrator. The<br />
Administrator will report <strong>the</strong> complaint to Council for consideration and <strong>the</strong> Council will respond to <strong>the</strong><br />
complainant within 30 days.<br />
If <strong>the</strong> Member is unsatisfied following <strong>the</strong> response <strong>of</strong> Council, s/he may direct his/her reasons and<br />
concerns in writing (and in person if s/he so requests) to <strong>the</strong> Advisory Council for consideration and <strong>the</strong><br />
Advisory Council will respond within 20 days with its’ decision. The Advisory Council will follow rules <strong>of</strong><br />
procedure as developed and accepted by <strong>the</strong> Council as amended from time to time<br />
If <strong>the</strong> Member is unsatisfied following <strong>the</strong> response <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Advisory Council, s/he may direct his/her<br />
reasons and concerns in writing (and in person if s/he so requests) to <strong>the</strong> Anishinabek <strong>Nation</strong> Tribunal<br />
and Commission for consideration and <strong>the</strong> Anishinabek <strong>Nation</strong> Tribunal and Commission will follow <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
due process. The Anishinabek <strong>Nation</strong> Tribunal and Commission is <strong>the</strong> final court for appeal and redress<br />
concerning <strong>Chippewas</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Thames</strong> <strong>First</strong> <strong>Nation</strong>.<br />
