ECHOES OF AUTUMN, FREE FALL, BELLS, AND VESPERS<br />

2012-2013<br />

is the 25th anniversary season<br />

for the <strong>Peabody</strong> Camerata, the Conservatory's modern and contemporary music<br />

ensemble, conducted by Gene Young. On<br />

the program for the Camerata's first concertt <strong>of</strong> the season, on Saturday, Oct. 6,<br />

is Eleven Echoes <strong>of</strong> Autumn, written in 1966 by experimental composer George Crumb, who will turn 83 on Oct. 24.<br />

Free Fall Baltimore comes to <strong>Peabody</strong> on Wednesday, Oct. 10, when the <strong>Peabody</strong> Wind Ensemble will perform with C<br />

Street Brass. A quintet <strong>of</strong> four <strong>Peabody</strong> alumni and one current student, C Street developed its innovative repertoiree and<br />

performance style under the guidance <strong>of</strong> faculty artist Joe Burgstaller. Harlan D. Parker will conduct. All tickets are<br />

free,<br />

but advance ticketing is required.<br />

<strong>Peabody</strong>'s ensemble-in-res<br />

sidence since 1987, the <strong>Peabody</strong> Trio—violinist Violaine Melancon, violist Natasha Br<strong>of</strong>sky,<br />

and pianist Seth Knopp— —will perform as<br />

part <strong>of</strong> <strong>Peabody</strong>'s Adalman Chamber Series on Tuesday, Oct. 30. <strong>The</strong> program<br />

includes the contemporary<br />

work Variations sur la 'Sonnerie de Saint-Genevieve-du-Mont' de Marin Marais, written in<br />

1998 by French composer Phillipe Hersant. <strong>The</strong> piece is<br />

based on a work called, in English, <strong>The</strong> Bells <strong>of</strong> St. Genevieve,<br />

written 275<br />

years earlier by Marais, the master <strong>of</strong> the viol portrayed in the 1991 film Tous les matins<br />

du monde.<br />

<strong>The</strong>n, on Halloween, Wednesday, Oct. 31, Edward Polochick will conduct a performance by the <strong>Peabody</strong> Singers <strong>of</strong><br />

Mozart's Vesperae solennes de confessore. . Written for soloists and chorus in 1780, this work was the second <strong>of</strong> two<br />

settings by Mozart <strong>of</strong> the Vespers, the sunset prayer service (vesper is Latin for 'evening').<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Peabody</strong> Campus is located in the heart <strong>of</strong> the Mount Vernon Cultural District. Enter through the Rouse Visitors<br />

Center at 17 East Mount Vernon Place. <strong>The</strong> Center is open Monday-Saturday 9:00 am-10:00 pm and Sunday<br />

12:00 pm-10:00 pm.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Box Office is located in the Grand Arcade and open Monday-Friday 10:00 am-4:00 pm while school is in session and<br />

one hour prior to all ticketed events.<br />

Parking<br />

Parking is available weeknights after 4:00 pm until closing for $5 and weekends until closing for $4 in the <strong>Peabody</strong><br />

garage, subject to availability, with entrance in the 600 block <strong>of</strong> Saint Paul Street.<br />

Seating Policy<br />

Doors open for seating 30-45 minutes prior to all events. Latecomers will be seated at the first break in the performance<br />

that is convenient to both the performing artists and the seated patrons. Due to safety regulations, there is no standing<br />

room permitted in <strong>Peabody</strong> performance halls.<br />

Accessibility<br />

<strong>The</strong>re are two accessible entrances (and handicapped parking) on the second floor <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Peabody</strong> Garage, as well as one at<br />

19 East Mount Vernon Place, and one on Washington Place between Mount Vernon Place and Centre Street. Please call<br />
