BlackChili Compound
This unique tread rubber mixture which is only produced in
our German factory has revolutionised bicycle tyres. The
resultant compound showed a new relationship between grip
and rolling resistance. This ‘Elevated level’, as it was previously
known, was given the name ‘BlackChili’. Countless test wins
that were shown in laboratory tests show a tangible benefit.
The latest polymers, nanoscale soot particles and optimized
fillers all guarantee a unique performance, from downhill MTB
tyres to the time trial tyres of the ProTour, they are second to
none in their respective areas. BlackChili Compound improves
rolling resistance by 26 % and provides 30 % more grip than
activated silica compounds. Tyres with BlackChili Compound
also impress with higher mileage and unlike many multicompounds,
provide a constant ride from the first to the last
kilometre.
Vectran’s advantage
Vectran is spun from Vectra liquid crystal polymer, which
results in a thread that is thermoplastic and has multifilaments.
This semicrystalline material is harder then aramid, has five
times higher tensile strength than steel and in addition, is also
lighter than comparable nylon thread. Vectran maintains
these attributes even in the most adverse weather conditions.
PolyX – built to resist!
With the PolyX Breaker, we are bringing our car expertise
to the bicycle tyre sector. Polyester has been used
successfully in car tyres for years and has proven itself over
and over. The highly durable polyester thread is cross-stitched
with a close mesh. As a result, very high fabric density is
achieved, which not only makes the breaker more durable
against foreign objects, but also particularly resistant to
punctures.
Race sport – easy, quick and secure.
Uncompromisingly designed for mountain bike XC and
marathon racing. The race sport casings combines consistent
lightweight design and exceptional puncture protection at the
highest level. The design makes the difference – an especially
fine, high quality nylon fabric with an intricate and universally
protective rubber casing, together with the legendary
BlackChili Compound for the ultimate race day tyre.

ProTection – carefree epic ride.
Better than ever before – our new ProTection carcass is ready
for duty! The addition of a ProTection layer under the tread and
in the sidewalls makes it particularly durable and resistant to
injury/damage or penetration from foreign objects. Universally
applicable, they also inspire with BlackChili Compound,
attractive design and low weight. In addition, they are easliy
converted to tubeless as they now feature a tubless compatible
bead.
