State profiles that identify <strong>the</strong> factors contributing to <strong>the</strong>ir successful ADRC outreach to people<br />

with developmental disabilities are in Appendix 7. Of <strong>the</strong> six states, Georgia <strong>and</strong> Wisconsin have<br />

several best practices that reinforce <strong>the</strong>ir ADRC network’s commitment to serving people with<br />

disabilities <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir families:<br />

• Georgia’s ADRC website has<br />

video clips of families of people<br />

with developmental disabilities<br />

explaining how <strong>the</strong>y benefitted<br />

from ADRC options counseling<br />

<strong>and</strong> assistance in accessing<br />

services. Its ADRC brochure<br />

prominently displays <strong>the</strong>ir ADRC<br />

network as a resource for people<br />

with disabilities <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir families<br />

as shown in Figure A.<br />

• Both states have dedicated staff<br />

that support local ADRC<br />

operations. The Wisconsin<br />

Division of Long Term Care<br />

Office for Resource Center<br />

Development has 17 staff that<br />

support local ADRCs with training<br />

<strong>and</strong> technical assistance on doing<br />

community outreach, preparing<br />

contracts, improving<br />

administrative procedures,<br />

customer service, <strong>and</strong> working<br />

with <strong>the</strong>ir local consumer boards.<br />

Six field staff constitute an ADRC<br />

Quality Team that works closely<br />

with <strong>the</strong> ADRCs in <strong>the</strong>ir region.<br />
