Moora
9th - 11th October
Fifteen volunteers worked with the locals to assist with the Moora Race
Day at the race track & at Watheroo Primary School. The volunteers were
busy with different tasks & enjoyed the interaction with the locals. On
Saturday evening the group was invited to dance to the DJ at the racetrack.
The volunteers & the town both benefited over the weekend.
Feedback from the site: This is the third year in a row that JCW volunteers
have helped at the Moora Races. They were an excellent group & mingled
well with the community. Their dedication to getting the job done & being
at site when required was appreciated. This year we also hosted some
volunteers in Watheroo & they did a fantastic job in helping prepare for the
Watheroo Races. The community members in Watheroo had their first taste
of a JC weekend. We really appreciate the time & energy that everyone
spends in making this program so successful for rural communities all
over WA. Moora Shire thanks you for making a difference.
I loved working at Watheroo Primary School with the teachers making posters &
the sundowner at the Moora Races - Hana McDonald (Volunteer)
It was enjoyable mixing with the locals of Moora, preparing for & working at the
races & attending the raceday sundowner - Bec Curtin (Volunteer)
My favourite part was helping the Watheroo Primary School organise & clean their
arts & science store room. Also making poster & eating home madecakes, scones,
cookies, muffins & sandwiches - Cindy Le (Volunteer)
