Environmental Science<br />
Overview<br />
Environmental Science department, LCWU was established in 2000. Pr<strong>of</strong>. Dr. Kausar Jamal Cheema was<br />
the first head <strong>of</strong> the department. Because <strong>of</strong> it’s pr<strong>of</strong>essionally designed degree program, excellent courses<br />
and able faculty the department has earned the reputation <strong>of</strong> LEAD UNIVERSITY IN ENVIRONMENTAL<br />
SCIENCE IN PUNJAB and is now working towards the establishment <strong>of</strong> center <strong>of</strong> excellence in Environmental<br />
<strong>Sciences</strong>.<br />
The curriculum <strong>for</strong> the Environmental Science at LCWU is designed to provide students with a broad knowledge<br />
base, to stimulate their intellectual curiosity, and to enable them to acquire critical thinking skills, to<br />
appreciate the complexities <strong>of</strong> issues in the increasingly interconnected world, and to see things from<br />
multiple perspectives. The Department is contributing towards the pr<strong>of</strong>essional development and capacity<br />
building <strong>of</strong> the various groups <strong>of</strong> population <strong>of</strong> the society through its finest environment and world-class<br />
education and research in various disciplines <strong>of</strong> environmental science. Environmental Science Department<br />

Head <strong>of</strong> the Department<br />
has collaboration with industry, NGOs, government departments, universities within Pakistan, UK, Japan and Bangladesh, research<br />
institutes and various environmental organizations <strong>of</strong> the country and abroad. Department <strong>of</strong> Environmental Science is exploring new<br />
eras <strong>of</strong> educational as well as industrial research.<br />
At present a research project in collaboration with university college London funded by BC-INSPIRE-HEC is running in the department.<br />
Our faculty and students publish their research outcomes in the high ranking peer reviewed journals, participate in national and international<br />
conferences, earned US patent and besides research also actively participate in various community works.<br />
Job OPPORTUNITIES<br />
Graduates <strong>of</strong> Environmental Science Department, LCWU are working with various<br />
Eco-Laboratories, Institutes, Organizations, NGO’s and Industries <strong>of</strong> UK, USA, Kuwait, Saudi<br />
Arabia and Pakistan etc. It is a great success <strong>of</strong> Environmental Science Department that majority<br />
<strong>of</strong> graduates have been successful to get the job right after passing out from the <strong>University</strong>.<br />
Our graduates have opportunity to opt career in the Environmental Laboratories, Universities,<br />
Health department, Agricultural Department, Environmental Law, Industries, Research Organizations,<br />
NGO’s Environmental Engineering, GIS/Mapping, and Meteorology Department. Graduates<br />
also have opportunities in the sectors including Environmental Management, Research<br />
Regulations and Policy Development <strong>of</strong> Government.<br />
