Priyanka Dwarampudi, Research Scholar presented a research paper entitled ‘Preparation and Evaluation of Ayurvedic Tamra Bhasma - Cytotoxic Potential Towards Cervical Cancer Cell Lines’ JSSCP Ooty Participated in the 12th International Symposium Organized by CRS The 12th International Symposium on Advances in Technology & Business Potential or New Drug Delivery Systems was organised by the Indian Chapter of Controlled Release Society (CRS) in Mumbai in February 2012. JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty participated and presented many research papers at the Symposium. The papers presented at the Symposium were: • Mr. D. Nagasamy Venkatesh presented a paper ‘Design, Development and Evaluation of Acyclovir Sustained Release Tablets’ • Mr. Anuj P. Tambi presented a paper ‘Temozolomide Loaded Niosomal Formulation for Improved Efficacy against Cerebral Tumours’ • Mr.Bhanu Partap Singh presented a paper ‘Formulation and Development of Hydrogel Based Nanoparticles for Mercaptopurine’ • Mr. Sumeet Sood, Research Scholar, presented a paper ‘Utility of Isabgol Seed Mucilage as a Biopolymer for Fabrication of Trandermal Films’ • Mr. Kunal Jain, Research Scholar, presented a paper ‘Assessment of Trigonella Foenum Graecum Mucilage as Gelling Agent for Topical Delivery of Diclofenac Diethylammonium’ • Ms. Prathyusha M, Student presented a paper Designand Development of Nimesukide Transdermal Gel using Borassus Flabellifer Mucilage as Gelling Agent” Training Programme & Workshop Mr. N. Jawahar, has attended Training of Trainers (TOT) Programme in March 2012 at JSS University, Mysore. Mr. N. Jawahar, participated in DBT & DST sponsored National Symposium cum work shop on Mathematical Modelling in Drug Development and Drug Delivery (MMDD) held in March 2012. Collaborative and Consultancy Work at JSSCP Ooty • Department of Pharmacology is carrying out consultancy works for APEX Laboratory, Chennai from April 2012. • Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis has analyzed samples by Infra for various Pharmacy Colleges, Government Colleges and Pasteur Institute in Tamilnadu. • Department of Pharmaceutics is performing consulting work for Pharmaceutical companies namely Biocon, DSC-TA and Ethix Pharm for a total amount of Rs.3.5 lakhs. Guest Lectures Organised by JSS University Constituent Colleges JSSMC • Dept. of Psychiatry organized a guest lecture by Dr. Lisa McNeir, Adjunct Faculty Member at Department of Psychology, UCA, Arkansas on March 1st 2012 on the topic ‘Systems Family Therapy’ • Dr. Carlo Raj, Asst. Professor, Patho-Physiology, Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine and Medical Director, Falcon Physician Reviews, Texas He spoke on Strategies to excel in USMLE (United States Medical Licensure Examination) & Beyond. • Dr.Tejpal Singh Professor, Biotechnology, AIIMS, New Delhi delivered lecture on ‘From Innate Immunity to Protein Antibiotics’ • Dr. Debashis Mitra, Senior Scientist, National Centre for Sciences, Pune delivered lecture on ‘Host factors in HIV-1 Pathogenesis and Novel strategies Targeting the Virus Infection’ JSSCP Mysore • Mr. Vikranth Goel, LCMS Product Specialist, Agilant Technologies India Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore, gave Guest Lecture on ‘An overview of LCMS Technology and Applications’ on 10th February 2012 • Dr. B.M. Gandhi, Former Advisor, Dept. of Biotechnology, Govt. of India, gave a talk on ‘Project Scholarships from Govt. Funding Agencies’ on 24th February 2012 28
